After looking at Tacoma's for the past 6 months and obsessing over all the options and color choices, I finally pulled the trigger yesterday and placed my order for a new truck.

I ordered an Access Cab Sport 6spd in Barcelona Red. Apparently only 1 other in this configure has been made, and it was shipped to NY. This means I'm most likely going to have to wait the full 3 months before I get to see it.

I'm excited to get back into a truck after spending the better part of the last 7 years in turbo Subarus. It'll be nice to not worry so much about ground clearance during winter, and summer travels.

I do have a few questions though:

Has anyone installed Clazzio covers and heaters? I'm fairly spoiled with my current leather seats, and think these are a good alternative for the truck. How did you tap into the power for the seat heaters? (I haven't found any install guides on here)

How are the police and light tinting (20%ish) on these trucks? With the vehicles I'm used to I always avoided it as it was a giant magnet.

What studs do you guys recommend? I'm not familiar with truck tires.

Thanks for any answers, and I'm looking forward to being in a truck again soon.

not sure what you ultimate plan for the truck is.... but i have a feeling you will miss force induction after being around it for so long.

Honestly if you are looking into putting seat heaters in your truck, i would ditch the cover idea and go with katzins. i installed them plus a seat heater kit from Metra.

i ran a power wire to a secondary fuse box and then used that for power and ground.

as far a tint... its a hit or miss. its not legal to have darker than 35% on the front windows.

i moved back to alaska 2 years back.... i was intown less than 8hrs and got pulled over 1 block from leaving my house. had to strip the tint. was not happy that day.

Congrats on the order! As a guy who traded a tuned and modded WRX for my Taco I will say that there are some days that I do miss the spool of the turbo and fury of awesome that follows. But, I don't miss a loud commute to work (I had a full turbo-back Invidia Q300, and while it was quieter than most and sounded great when I got on it, the drone day after day killed me) nor do I miss the low ground clearance.

I second the Katzkin install over the covers. With Katzkins you can have real leather seats in your truck and help the resale value a bit. I'm actually thinking about pulling the trigger on a kit before I move up to Anchorage in January.

Here's a link to the TW group buy on Katzkins...

Concerning tint, I've heard that Ak is really picky about it. I'm going to try and get away with my 20% on the front and 35% over the factory tint in the back by keeping Georgia plates on my truck. But, if I get pulled over I fully expect to have to remove the tint.

You're going to love the Tacoma though, it's a great truck and I'm glad I got mine!

For studs I run the Hankook iPike RW11, my Dad does as well on his 2nd Gen Tundra. They are great and one of the cheaper winter LT tires. I might be selling mine soon enough though, once I get my lift on.

Tint is hit or miss like everyone said. My last 2 trucks have been 20% on the front and 20% over the factory on all the others and i've never been pulled over. Also had the eyebrow on my last one.
