Two quick questions from a new Taco owner.

    1) Is third brake light LED or std bulbs, if std. how many?

    2) Is the third brake light tough to get off to modify it?

    Thanks,

Thanks for the quick replies, but two different answers. I am ordering a flasher and need to know if I need one for LED or incandescent.

My mistake. I was thinking they were LED, I was thinking of the aftermarket 3rd brake lights.

Third brake light is #168 incandescent bulbs (3).
There's no need to buy a flasher to change this fixture to led bulbs or to replace the entire fixture with a LED one.

#3 standard 194 t10 wedges. The lens and screws are pretty flimsy and will strip if you overtighten just the slightest bit. Just plug in some LED's and you're good to go. I have white ones under there.

I haven't found an LED module with a clear/smoked lens for sale anywhere. has anyone else? All i can find are the 1st gen modules.

The OP is probably not looking for a LED replacement, but rather a blinking third brake light adapter.

    http://www.pulseprotects.com

this was a dealer installed option in my area, none of their vehicles make it out to the lot for sale without one installed...

not worth what they charge for it, but it is a great feature

OK; I get it now..... Looked at http://kahtec.com/smart_stop.htm and it works with both incandescent and led. Have to remove the brake light to wire in/mount in the roof cavity.
For me; I think they'd be too annoying to have 6 pulses every time I brake, but with the d@mned distracted driving due to texting going on.... maybe a good idea!!

I'd go with the above kahtec, add high intensity 168# leds (I use VLEDs) and it'd be up and working for about $40.00 total....
