So I finally got my switchbacks installed, only took me a week to do it, 5 min here, 10 min there etc.

I wanted to give my opinion about these lights. First off, they are bright, but they aren't THAT much brighter than stock. The nice thing is the heat issue is gone now, no more possible issues with melting or distorting the housings.

Onto the mounting options, I was a bit disappointed here. There are button screws that screw into the light housing, which produces the notches like on the stock bulb housing that keeps it tight in the headlight housing. I guess if I'm spending this kind of $$ on 2 bulbs, I expected more. Not screws that I cannot reproduce the pattern perfectly so the light is super secure.

I love the way these look, the true amber color production, the 5K white, it all looks so good. In the vid my wife didn't let my fogs get to true color, but after they warm up you really can't tell the difference in color from my 4300K fogs.

Wiring harnesses and connections were nothing special, I would have liked to see more of a seal on the spot where the adapter plugs into the original bulb socket.

Keep in mind, these are mostly just little things, but again, these are not $20 Wal-mart switchbacks. I expect quality when I pay for it. The bulb itself, looks very solid, fairly heavy to hold, lots of fins to dissipate heat and well built, and with the Phillips name behind it, well time will tell. Overall I'm happy with them, just thought things would be a bit different.

Forgive my wife, in the vid she can't figure out how to just do parking lights.....

Thanks for the videos and reviews of these. I have been seriously considering doing this exact mod to mine. Those are awesome. What color temp are the DTRLs? I would like to try LED headlights and foglights but, I want the color temp to match... <<EDIT>> DOH! They are 5k... I just re-read the post. Looks good! I may have to save up a little and go for these.

    +1 on the VLED kit...

here is a review i posted to another thread when i did my VLED Triton DTRL (non-switch back)
    pretty impressed with the kit.
given the location of the bulb socket connector i wouldnt worry too much about weather proofing, i have gone back and forth with the idea of wrapping it in electrical tape though, have you? the rest of the weather proofing materials seem equal to most of the automotive stuff out there. i hope the control boxes hold up, those did seem like they are sealed well. i agree about the brightness, definitely equal to, maybe a little brighter than stock. but TONS brighter than any other LED system out there on the market for our truck.

I like the versatility they've built into the control modules. the dimmer wire for proper dimming at night, and the way that their resistors are only active when the signal is functions rather than typical LED set up where the resistor is boiling 100% of the time.

for tacomas, we need the CK adapter when you order. when i spoke to these guys on the phone they knew their product inside and out, gave me a good feeling speaking to them.

here is the review i posted to another thread:

I did tape everything up. Your right about the design being geared for efficiently and longevity with the control boxes and resistors only being activated when they have to be. After the lights were on for 10 min warming up the other afternoon, the light housing were cool to the touch, and control boxes were just slightly warmer than ambient temp. Again, time will tell, but with a lifetime warranty, I feel pretty good.

Has anyone installed these on a 2012+? The 25mm adapter the include only allows me to install two 4mm screws? Also did you ever use the dimming wire? If so how did you install?

Yes install the dimming wire or ur DTRL will blind on coming drivers.
They connect to low beam which is center pin on the bulb harness.

    confused about your question...

the VLED kit will have the LED, a collar and 2 sets of set screws. (i think you use the shorter set screws). the collar allows for the pattern so it can lock into the stock housing. on our trucks pick the thickest gasket (included) then install two of the set screws, and it will spin into place in the housing and stay there.

if you're asking about the dimming wire... the VLED control boxes have a pigtail. attach that pigtail lead to the headlight socket. you want to attach (any way of your choosing) to the center pin of the headlight plug.
    it looks like this:

    I _ I

you want to tap into the middle horizontal _

instead of using wire taps, i stripped the end of the wire and inserted it into the socket. secured it with electric tape. its just 'looking' for voltage so it knows to dim the DTRL.
