    Yeah I almost got the black then thought "I wonder if they have colors" and bam found this on Amazon. They also make yellow, blue and camo.

    So what kind of range do these little guys have? It's a lot smaller than I expected it to be.

    Actually a pretty good range...on that mohave run we had I could hear people fine and we had a good distance between each other.

    I take Hwy 18 from Lucerne all the time during the snow season. That is the best way IMHO to avoid all the idiots that clog the roads on the front.

    Hwy 18 from Lucerne is steep and has some hairpin turns, but its usually a quick drive with little traffic. Watch the inside corners for ice.

    Actually I was just reading online, with a good antenna these things could potentially reach up to 20-30 miles. That's better than I expected. Stock antenna is about 5-10 mile range. Enough for wheeling!

    Nah. I don't think that far. I have a magnet antenna on the roof of my truck and that definetely gives me better range. If the antennas can see each other yea. I I'm sure 10 miles easy but with mountains in the way it's going to be crap.

    Upgrade that antenna for better range. I have 2 baofengs. 1 with a better antenna. I can have both radios next to each other and that small antenna won't pick up anything and the longer antenna you'll hear better.

    The stock antenna is ok. When I had them side by side the small antenna didn't even pick up ppl talking. While the longer antenna you can hear ppl talking. That was in the mountains tho. Stock should be fine in the desert.
