2016 may in fact have a slightly longer cab or just longer doors

Sorry but photoshopping these images shows nothing. You don't know what lens and at what distance or angle these pictures where taken. I do this sort of stuff for a living, trust me, without those parameters you're basically making it up.
At its most basic comparison of pictures, the difference from one lens to the other by only 10mm can easily make one truck appear bigger from the same distance. The chances that you found a picture of these two truck shot by the same lens from the same distance and angle are next to impossible.

If anything superimposing these pictures shows the trucks' similarities, not dimensions. And this confirms to me, if in fact these are the same size trucks, that these are the same gen2 trucks, the 2016 with heavily restyled panels and front clip.

Nice observation. Would you have liked it to be a different truck? I think they had the best truck and when you have that... There isn't much to improve.

Yea I don't understand why there's so much issue here. The Tacoma has still been #1 the whole time...oh noes sales are slipping...still #1...still an awesome truck...let's build build a new one that might not be #1....great idea...

Little this. Little that 4x4 Swap’d PreRunner
Looks like a 3rd gen short bed and a 2nd gen long bed. Of course they're gonna look a bit off of the pics weren't taken at the same angle and distance, as already said.

I understand the 2nd and 3rd generation cabs are the same minus some high strength steel reinforcements under the skin in the newer version.
