Interesting since others would argue its all new and according to the engineer nothing is the same besides the seatbelt bracket. And certainly toyota wouldn't blow smoke up our asses or stretch the facts. Thanks for the pics! I do like everything except that horrific front end.

Once again the frame is the same structure because it was already a good platform. Not everything needs changing. What changed about the frame was how it was made, which Toyota claims is a way of making the metal stronger without using as much of it. So it could be a super beefy frame with the same weight, or a lightweight frame with the same strength.

I would prefer a lighter frame with the same strength for obvious reasons

First it was the seatbelt bracket. Then it was the gas cap. You'd think if Toyota was gonna sell this as all new, they'd have stricter talking points.

"Toyota Chief Engineer Mike Sweers remarked it may share the gas cap in common from the previous generation."

The same shit everyone else has.
The front end is basically flat, I tried to capture that in the one picture but it was hard though because there was a crowd around it constantly.

To me, it looks more like another facelift of the second generation platform.

Hey Toyota... I was 100% planning on buying a Tacoma until I read "rear drum brakes"... really?

A bit surprising and speaks volumes about their attitude towards this truck, IMO. Comes across lazy.

I was really rooting for this Tacoma but my 2006 might be be waiting for the 2018 update.. you know, the one where they make the truck like it should have been made in 2016, thanks to the fierce competition it will have the next 2 years?

Really disappointed. There's a number of things... like a state of the art interior (clear, obvious ext temp and direction on the rear view mirror, including Homelink and auto dim).. locking gas cap would be great, too. Again, afterthought update, IMO.

Honestly, it just seems like it was rushed as soon as they heard about the GM trucks.

I could be wrong, but either way, I'm not buying this Tacoma.... really bummed about this cuz I'm a huge Toyota fan. I'll be looking into the GMC truck though... who knows.

You, a huge Toyota fan, refuse to buy the 3rd gen because it has rear discs and because of that it seems rushed? I can't tell if you're bashing the interior or praising it.

The '16 appears to be in the acceptable range.....I'm gonna keep my '10 for a while though.

I'm with you. Honestly, Toyota could've probably loaded the bed with horse shit and it would be fine with me.

Aesthetically, I dint know what people wanted other than a complete ripoff of the global ranger. We were never going to get anything "softer" after that mug they put on the refreshed 4runner.

Inside, it's about all you can hope for. A more comfortable back seat would have been ideal, but making the cab bigger would result in a bigger truck, and none of us want that. Higher sitting front seats are a thing to Tacoma critics, but again, you'd have to alter dimensions and end up with a bigger truck.

My only disappointment is really that (and I know it was delusional from the get go) the truck didn't get smaller.

If Nissan legitimately tried, and couldn't, make a true compact pickup, the Hyundai is probably the best you can hope for in the future, but that also means the Tacoma will trapped by its own footprint.

The 4 cylinder will be replaced, but it's the only 4 banger in the truck and suv besides the 2.5 in the rav4 iirc. I'm guessing that engine needs some tuning to make sense in the Tacoma to least maintain the 180 pound feet of torque.

Let me break down your post for you.

I overlooked the gas cap comment because you did not include it in why you refused to buy the truck.

Be sure to "Duly note" anything I missed. The rest was your opinion and not relevant to the question you didn't answer.
