What is the home made version of soft jaw pliers? I'm thinking wrapping the shaft in thin rubber and using vice grips. That sounds terribly sexual but is probably my best bet.

 

You want to use a bench vice, Motion Pro makes the tool you need. I did suspension for a living for a long time, you definitely want to use the right tool. Measure the diameter of your shock shaft, and buy the corresponding tool for it. You're also going to need a wrench the size of the locknut at the clevis.

So i got the locknut loosened off and now I should be able to unthread the clevis?
I want to be sure in case I break something! lol
Also I guess the nitrogen charge will be lost when it is undone, what does that cost to be refilled?

 

Got the clevis off. Ordering the bumpstop, considering doing the oil change next year.
