Hello guys I have a 2003 Tacoma 2wd with a lift. I have what I think to much take my set up is a follows. OME 881 with billy 5100 up front and wheelers 5 pack leaf with 5125 rear. I was thinking about getting the 10mm lift enhancer. Would that help with the rake??? I love the way the ride feels I don't know if the 10mm kit would make a difference on the ride quality??? Lastly which one is better the poly or the steel kit??? Thanks in advance guys.

I haven't heard about a 10mm lift enhancer, are you talking about the drivers side trim packer (generally 5mm, used to combat Taco lean). I wouldn't think 10mm would make much difference in ride height or quality but I'd like to see this device before I comment further.

    • No difference in ride quality since the stock spring is maintained and there's no additional preload.
    • Use metal spacers if you want to keep it for a number of years.
    • For little amount of lift, this spacer requires a lot of work: remove strut, compress spring, remove top hat, press out top hat studs with a vise, install longer studs, reassemble strut...

Damn it that sounds like a pita, should've done it from the get go. The reason I wanted to go this route it's because of the rake.

He's right, unless you have your own spring compressor, torque wrench, and ball joint press (for pressing the studs out and in), it is not worth it. Even if you do have the spring compressor and ball joint press, you'd be better off waiting until you decide to change front shocks and springs again.

Most any garage will charge about $20-40 per side to install the studs if you bring them the strut assembly.

I run a 1/2" TPS on top of my OME 882s to make up for the armor and winch. Brings the truck fairly close to level.

As mentioned, you'll want the metal one for longevity.

You should be fine with the 881s but there is the possibility of the top of the spindle smacking the spring on down travel when going tall. Might want to try lifting the front up to see how much room you got between the two.

couldn't you and wouldn't it be a lot easier to get thinner blocks or simply get a drop shackle for the leafs to drop the rear 1"?

^We don't talk about lowering our trucks here. It's as unethical as running skinny tires or underclocking your PC. :p

Some lift, some armor, some scratches..
    Hahaha

Hector- I ran the 881s w/ metal 10mm lift enhancer along w/ the wheelers 5 pack for a while and was quite happy with the stance and ride. I don't recall the install being that much of a pita, buuut I did install them all at once. My spindle/BJ did hit the coils at full droop but didn't cause a problem IMO..

don't think of it as lowering, just think of it as "adjusting the lift" :p

but shaving a little off the back lift is a lot les involved then trying to lift the front a smidgen

Damn it, that what I should've done from the get go. I was thinking about going with 883 instead but the 881 I just got them they are basically new, plus the wife would be mad as hell.

Did you do the initial install yourself? It's not terribly hard to add the spacers if that's the route you wanna take, you don't even need a spring compressor... http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1s...ng-5100s-without-spring-compressor-video.html

OR you could sell the 881s and buy the 882/883
