Or similar 3M double sided mounting tape. That's what I used and they have been stuck on for about a year and are definitely not coming off unless I forcibly pull them off. I have to redo mine as the strips aren't as waterproof as they say

Then use the things you linked to hold up the wires you ran under the truck.

 

Where do I get the pole thing to make a whip? Basically like a PVC pipe/stick piece?

ATV/RV store/dealer, walmart has skinny ones for bicycles.

 

You can use a CB antenna if you have CB installed. While LED's are on it will screw with the Antenna but I've been told while they are off it doesn't mess with it. I honestly haven't tested and just repeating what I was told.

Make a bed rail mount that these can screw into and you are set.

Thanks, how tall is yours? 4 foot versus 6 foot. I go into a parking garage 4 times a week - I'll measure later

I got a 4 foot whip and I'm bashing the shit out of it in my parking garage at work. You may want to look into a quick release or a spring so you can pull it down and latch it to something.

I'm not an expert but...

If you wrap any kind of conductor (wires, circuit traces in LED strips) around an antenna, you are essentially putting a shield around it, especially if these wires are connected to the vehicle ground (-12V). I suspect you will definitely affect your ability to transmit and receive. If you know someone with a SWR (Standing Wave Ratio) meter or have one yourself, you can hook it up and see just how bad this will affect your antenna.

I would think the same as well, and I do have a SWR meter. Just never out to test it yet. Hell I've had my CB for over a year and still haven't tuned it.

 

Oh yeah it will def fuck with the signal. I just like using the firestik/or whatever cb antenna to make a light up antenna. *not for use with actual CB*

 

Did you ever hold a fluorescent light tube up to or near the antenna and key up the mic?

You know it'll light the bulb up right? Some guys I know used to take little neon bulbs and put them on the tip of their antennas. They would light up when transmitting.
