    Exactly true, but the financial suffering here in the U.S. (along with the false fear rumors) have really hurt our Mexican friends in Baja California. So, while it is great to have more Baja to ourselves, it really is selfish (or shellfish). Anyway, nearly every place I camp down there is deserted... even on holidays. Having a 4WD just gets you to places others can't get to or don't want to.

    So Bajabuck, do you read or post on BajaNomad.com forums?

It is far more detailed than the 2012 book mentioned in this thread (The Old Missions of Baja & Alta California), which was about the founding of all the California missions...

    While the desert, dirt roads, 300 year old missions, deserted white sand beaches all appeal to me, that great food in Baja definitely helps me to return, again and again.
    I am in Baja right now, 230 miles south of San Diego on Day 6 of my April research trip. WiFi here allows me to get online.
