I've noticed lately that I sometimes have hesitation when shifting from reverse to drive. I definitely come to a complete stop before I shift. It's just that sometimes when I press the gas the engine will rev a bit but I won't be moving for a second (a literal second). Then it kicks in and acts normal. Is there a torque protector for the driveline or something built into our trucks?

I think that's just the trans working. Lots of auto's I've driven have been that way, some longer then a second.

Thanks, but my hesitation is after shifting into drive from reverse. From what I can tell this may be a normal function of the truck to protect the tranny. I'll definitely mention it when I go in for my 30k service in a few months though.

Reviving an old thread because mine does it too. It's done it for a long time maybe since new. It only happens right after shifting into D. The only time its a problem is if you go to make a U turn for example - You don't quite make it around so you have to back up a little then go forward in a hurry because someone is coming. I drop it into D them step on the gas and it barely moves for a second or 2 then goes??? I have no other acceleration issues otherwise.

I've put on another 15k on the truck since I started this thread, and I do notice it still but not often. No other transmission issues or mechanical issues at all, so I'm not worried about it anymore. Seems to be normal, if not by design.

Yea it only seems to be an issue if you put it D then step on the gas right away which you shouldn't do anyway so I'm not too worried about it. Just curious if that's normal?

Mine just recently started to do. I have 60,xxx on the truck and never had a problem with it doing it until the spark plugs were changed ( I don't think that has anything to do with it though). Anyone have any ideas?
