Why does no one offer the cab mounted third brake light with the white bed lights on mid size trucks like the Tacomas? They're a standard option on every full size truck on the market. Do auto manufacturers think that because it is a small truck no one is ever going to use the beds and need the convenience of a light? I feel like I used mine often and am not really a fan of the led strip lighting, reminds me of a show truck option. It is not something expensive to add at the factory, at least I wouldn't think so.

    Thoughts?

I believe the third brake light on second gens is the same as on the first gens. Toyota really saved some moneys there! There is a thread somewhere of someone who added a third brake light from a Colorado. It involved quite a bit of fab work to get it to fit though. Easier and cheaper to just mount some bed lights.

I'm working on one that won't involve cutting up your truck. But before I get questions, it's slow work as I have two other jobs. I will definitely post something up when I have the next prototype finished.

I'm wanting to do this too. Not just for lighting up the bed but to check on what I'm towing at night. I used to use this all the time when towing my boat with my old Silverado after dark or before dawn heading to and from the lake. Its nice to be able to make sure everything is staying put as it should. I looked at what Rigid has to offer but it seems that anything that might put out enough light isn't low profile. I'd prefer low profile and as close to a factory look as I can get.
I'll also post here if I'm able to come up with something.

FYI, not legal to have white light shining to the rear when driving.
