Hey guys. I'm in the middle of a Dakar leaf spring install and I realized that one of the rivets holding the rear most collar has snapped or or missing or whatever. I don't think it's smart to keep going ahead, but at this point I'm all in. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'll try to upload pics.

    Hmm , that sucks

With the retainer on there loose it could wedge on to the leafs and restrict flex and removing it can allow the leafs to misalign

I think you are going to need to take the pack apart to fix that too

Is there a way to fix it? I don't see how I can take it apart without busting all the other riverts.

I haven't seen the bottom rivet / bolt sheared off before

You can actually take the leaf packs apart , that's how you installl the d29xl AAL

Yeah unfortunately. Either was shipped that way or broke during shipping. I'm pretty upset about this. Got them delivered yesterday and was really looking forward to getting it all set for the tires and wheels that are going on Thursday.

So if I took them apart then what? Put a bolt through or something?

Did you receive it with the head of the rivet broken off? Contact the vendor you got them through for their suggestion on it.

Yeah I recieved it that way but didn't notice until I was getting them prepped for install. I have full faith in the vendor. Tried calling but they aren't open today. Ill try messaging him.

IF the vendor can't help, press the rivet out completely, and find a bolt that has a shank the same size as the rivet. Get one that is grade 8, and has a smooth shank (space between the threads and the head of the bolt) that as close to the thickness of the spring pack as to try not to have threads inside the hole. Use loctite and tighten the nut down, then trim the bolt down.
But be sure to contact whoever you got them from first.

Wouldn't that essentially jam the 1/4"(approx) thickness of the bolt head in between the two adjoining leafs ?

Thanks for the tip. Looks like everyone is closed for the weekend. I'm gonna have to try to drill it out and go grade 8. If anyone else has suggestions, I'm all ears.

Ok maybe I won't try the grade 8 haha. I'm pretty bummed about this. Was super excited to put it all in and now this roadblock. I just need to figure out of there is a way to fix it, or if I should start putting the old ones back in.

What if I tried welding the bottom of the shackle? Will heat damage the springs?

My question would be , if you weld something to them and that doesn't work , will the vendor still take them back
