Go Buy a TRD supercharger if you want to boost a Toyota. Keep the twin turbo setups to cars with built motors that can handle it.

First, there isn't a TRD supercharger for the dual vvt-i 1GR yet.

Good luck with it, I'd recommend talking to Gadget at URD. He's been prototyping a supercharger for this engine for years and I don't think he has one ready for production. I think going TT is going to cause more problems than its worth

I think the guy you want to talk to is @Torspd. He's got a mad turbo setup on his taco and could answer many questions I'm sure.

    Thank you Cory.

Like ForeRunner stated, your 4Runner's 1GR is of the dual VVT-I version. A little better flowing heads, but that is where it stops as being a better 1GR. Unfortunately, it is not the same architecture as the single VVT-I 1GR. It should have been named a different engine, but can't do a thing about that.

It has weaker internals than the single VVT-I (SVTI for short), and therefore cannot hold as much of boost from an F/I adder, psi - psi, as the SVTI. Gadget already encountered this as well. Despite still having a twin screw S/C on his 4Runner. His is running no more than 6 psi ( not sure the liter size of the blower, nor the volume of output) and had to have very careful tuning to keep the engine from failing.

Can you add boost from a twin setup? Yes. Must you be extremely careful on OEM internals? YES.

Adding rods and pistons alone would net you a huge safety margine, and allow you to achieve at least a 400 hp rating.

You'd still be left with a tuning solution necessary. Currently the only one availble for yours, which is a plug in play, is the UniChip. Unless you don't mind a wire in style?

Before I go any further.........what is the budget?

'Twer me, I would swap the SVTI engine in, used ecu, and harness, then go from there. I am not an average modder though. ;)
