So I really like the look of steelie wheels but admittedly don’t know anything about them.

I figure I don’t want actual steel wheels but alloy ones that have that look. Is that a thing? Am I making sense haha?

    Any suggestions y’all!?

    Please and thank you!

You are making perfect sense. It is good to ask before you buy. I really liked the look of the ProComp Series 51 D slot wheels. I bought a set for 16" rims. They wouldn't clear the brake caliper, so I had to get spacers.

Three out of the four were not quite perfectly round. I had to make multiple exchanges. I probably spent over $200 on trying to get the tires/wheels balanced before I threw in the towel.

I managed to sell the ProComps and buy a set of Method 305NV wheels with the D slot look. It turned out that I wasn't the only TW member that experienced a problem with those wheels.

If you really want steel wheels, it would be better to buy some Toyota steel wheels or spares.

I still have my 15" OEM factory steel wheels that came with my truck stored away. I'm currently using the OEM Chou Seiki aluminum alloy wheels right now, but will be upgrading soon. If you want 16" Toyota steel wheels, you may want to look for 4Runner OEM steel wheels.

I should specify that I would want them in black and not chrome or silver. Was thinking of spraying them but was looking at other options.

I don't think I've ever seen any stock OEM steel wheels in black ever. The stock OEM 15" wheels that I have are silver with a black cap in the middle. You'll have to get yourself spray cans of primer & black Plasti-Dip, if you want to have a black finish done for cheap.

check out the procomp 7069. They are aluminum but have a pretty simple look to them. A lot of people on here run them, myself included.

Thanks for the posts. Some good suggestions, keep em coming! Def just looking for that simple, not flashy look. I'll look into the procomp (but not the procomp series 51, according to the second post!) and analogs.

Pretty sure some of the spare tires under our trucks have black rims, might have to piece together a set of spares and you’d have a set?

I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure I’ve had one or two black spares

Indeed. All three of my Tacomas, and every one I've seen, has had OE black spare wheels. Lotsa FJ Cruisers, too (17").

Sold them to a buddy at work. The guy wanted them for his Land Cruiser.
They were 16x7 and cleared the 231mm Tundra calipers too.

Those Fifteen52 Analog HD wheels are really pretty nifty.

I haven't even looked at mine in 5 years. I bet they are crusty. My goal is to sweep this truck into the trash bin when I'm through.

Soooo not looking for actual steel wheels. But for the LOOK of steel wheels. Or at least similar in style/design.

The posts mentioning procomp and 1552 are basically what I’m going for.

Also living in upstate NY....rust most def an issue. Another reason why I’m staying away from actual true steelies
