ACIS failure? Not sure about the hissing but the losing power and such sounds like the ACIS failure. I wouldn’t describe the problem as the truck “went to shit” though.

 

WAG: Exhaust blockage. Possibly your cat fell apart and is clogging the pipe. Or someone stuffed something into the end of the tailpipe.

Clogged exhaust....dealt with that on 3 of my vehicles.

The hissing noise is the air being forced into the exhaust and having nowhere to go except past the blockage. Keep an eye on your engine temp too, as a clogged exhaust can cause the engine temp to start rising.

Start by unbolting the catback side of the exhaust (muffler/tailpipe) and running it without it. If the hissing noise goes away and it drives better.....the muffler collapsed internally. If the hissing noise is still there and it drives poorly, it means one of the catalytic converters clogged up.

Also, like someone mentioned earlier.....check the tailpipe and make sure some prankster A-hole didn't shove something into it or fill it with expanding foam.

 

I had a loud hissing and shitty performance with a collapsing muffler once, the exhaust was hissing out a drainage hole due to the blockage.

 

Methinks that be the dialect of Scooby-Doo, me Lord..

 

I'm pretty sure they all have drainage holes, regardless the make....as do mufflers. That's the only way to get the water formed by the exhaust out of it.
