One of the last BIG things I want to do before I put this truck on the road is change the transmission fluid, I am thinking i should drop the pan and clean the filter as i am told it is MESH screen. Does anyone know of a good write up where the pan is dropped ?

This that and the other thing.
the only ones I have see people just replace the filter. but an OEM filter from the dealer is like 150 bucks or something crazy like that, even the gasket is like 50 bucks if I remember correctly.

Man o Man pretty dead in here where is the OP ?

    lol

lots have happened just not much with this truck, i started it the other day and the AC compressor is not spinning causing the belt to burn :( This is ok as my next job is to do all the pulleys on the front of the motor and i will have a look at it then. Dont worry to the one person who is following this long build (Thanks Mom) i will take lots of pictures. I did clean out the truck and vacuum it all and installed some seat covers.

    :)

    Lets start this again :)

Life has been Busy with Parker but its time to get this truck on the road ...

I have been dreading this job for many reasons.

I have lost MOTIVATION I am hoping that continuing on with my story / blog / whatever this is will get me on the go again.

One of the idlers on the front of the motor is noisy all idlers are rusty :( I bought the gates idler, tension and belt kit as i figure one idler bearing is gone the rest are done with 380 000 km on this truck.

I started the truck a few weeks ago after it was sitting for a long time and the Squeal was way worse, opened the hood to see my belt burning on my AC compressor FML !

So Saturday I sucked it up and went out at it.

Moved the truck out on the road for more room to work on it. No power steering it was really hard shifting and had trouble finding the slected gear. I went to put it in park and heard click click click the parking Paul in the trans trying to find its home ? But no more squeal as I had burnt the belt off
I knew this was going to be a bigger job then what the internet was telling me as I have compounded problems. So I decided to remove the fan and shroud. This is recommended!

That's a sweet looking cruiser. The roll cage looks pretty stout.

So with the fan and shroud off and out i started to change the idler pulleys. I tightened them to the required FT lbs then added a bit more with some blue lock tight. I also removed a AC line that was broken (no charge in system), found out my alternator is toast spins but not that free, my AC compressor is stuck also.

Last part to replace the tensioner pulley, everyone on the internet just takes the old pully off and puts the new pulley on the old tensioner. This truck have high KM so i am going to replace the tensioner system as it came in the kit, bracket for this is behind the AC compressor. Off comes the alternator, 3 of the four bolts for the compressor came out with the use of HEAT broke one off, SWEET POTATO PIE !!!!!!

Toyota Todd Local "Nl yota Trucks" group member showed up to give me a hand :)

So as of right now the AC compressor is still on the truck due to a broken off bolt, i should be able to free it up and slide it off the broken bolt. Then I THINK the compressor bolts to the tenshioner bracket. Internet picture with red circles showing where the AC compressor goes.

So this is good news as the AC bolts to the tenshioner and i am replacing the tenshioner i probably dont have to deal with broken off bolt.

Bad news i need to either find a AC compressor delete kit to replace the stuck one i have or take the one i have apart and try and free it up and probably put new bearings in it just act as a dead pulley.

There has been lots of talk about delete kits but i can not seam to find one to fit, also people are saying you will lose your defrost if you delete it. I do not think this is true because you still have a heater core the defrost will not be conditioned air

I need defrost but i do not need AC defrost

It will cost more then the truck is worth to put working ac back on it, AC pump, hose, cleaning, pressurize test, fill.

I am going to purchase a re manufactured alternator

I also need to look into the Neutral safety switch as i am sure mine is toast
