The dealer also said you do know your idler pulley bearings are making a noise :) and your going to need to fix your handbrake cable.

Heated the nut and it came off, the bolt and tab just crumbled. The amount of white crosion that was there don’t think it would have mattered. Anyways his was the parts transmission. The dealer told me the family taco needs one, BUT I did not see any symptoms what would they be ?

all the neutral safety switch does is make sure you cant start the truck in gear. so I would assume that the truck would show symptoms of not starting even in neutral or park

I think the dealer was trying to get some $$$ out of me, when I get the truck back I am going to soak it with penetrating oil

    Note to self, and others

Good write up on idler pulley bearings

    http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/foru...ng-failure-what-do.html#/topics/127154?page=1

    From the post

To add a bit more info to this thread... For those interested, I've learned the bearings in the Toyota Idler pulleys can be replaced (just did mine a couple weeks ago)... They're about $15 ea (or less) for quality dual rubber sealed NSK, SKF or other bearings. Just hammer out the old dead bearings, and carefully press in the new ones taking care not to press on inner race, or seal. The only additional piece you need, like the Gates aftermarket pulley, is a sleeve to adapt the larger ID bearing for the 10mm mounting point.

Idler Bearing SKF PN: 6302-2rsc3 (needs 15mm to 10mm Adaptor sleeve) Dimentions: ID:15mm, OD:42mm, Width:13mm

Picked up tacoma AGAIN ffs and brought it back to the yard. Dealer said it will be a few MONTHS before frame gets here. Going to use this time to pick at it and do some of the modifications i have planed.
