    I think I'd get a second opinion if I was you. I'm pretty sure the 2.7 is non-interference, which means it shouldn't have done any internal engine damage when it jumped time. I'm not real sure "the monkey" knows what he's talking about. Unless he pulled the head I'm not real sure how would know there's internal engine damage. 140k miles is not that many for a Toyota, by the way. I've never heard of anybody replacing a motor because it jumped time. Since you have another truck to get you around, why not consider doing the timing chain repair yourself? It isn't that hard.

    I didn't think the 2.7 was an intereference engine. I had my cams installed wrong the first time without interference. Pull the head off and make sure there is damage.

    I have to agree with Jeff. I have never heard or seen a timing chain jump time. I have had several 22re's a part, which has the same basic chain design. It is impossible for them to jump time without damaging one of the sprockets.
