Might have been answered, but have a question about the giant 64 kit. How much lift over the prior setup did it give? Is it the same height as f67s but better travel or is the lift higher?

I never ran f67s so I cant compare it to them but it sits about the same height as my stock replacement Deavers with a 2 inch shackle. I imagine it sits almost exactly the same height as the f67s but more droop. It has 11" of uptravel at ride height.

Ton of room now with this 88" rear end haha. It would be close with a tundra rear and no frame notch though

right haha i was gonna do 2" spacers. more concered about the 2.5 coilover but 3.0 and 2.5 are the same size so mine as well get a 3.0 in there. thinking about notching a good amount out to help.

Did you add the wider axle after you installed the giant kit or did you install everything together? Looking at getting the same setup in the rear, but with a 2nd gen axle until I can afford a front long travel kit and go with a tundra axle to get the width a little closer to the kit. Still loving this build.

I installed the Tundra axle when I first installed the kit, then upgraded to the fabbed housing about 2 years after. I'm not sure the 2nd gen is wide enough to mount the leafs.

would you recommend the one piece over 6 inch glass and stock hood?

i have both setups and thinking the stock and my glass will be easier

Stock hood and glass would definitely be way easier. Took quite a bit of fab work to make the 1 piece work on hinges so I wouldn't have to pull it off just to check oil and such.

would you mind posting up mounting distances on your leaf springs?
Im picking my kit up in a couple days and would like some idea of what reasonable hangar placement would be

Thanks! I saw your old axle up at DTF yesterday. The 2nd gen axle is 7/8" shorter on each side that the tundra. How wide is your fabbed axle - the same as a tundra? Curious to see how much clearance there is between the ubolt clamp and the backing plate. Hopefully there's enough for my axle to work.

My fabbed axle is a lot wider. Wms is like 75.5" I believe. It is 88" wide total. It will be close with that 2nd gen axle. Not sure how you are mounting the shocks either but they definitely wont fit outside the frame rails without a notch. Personally I would just wait and go straight to the Tundra axle and not waste the time and money to do it twice

How are your shocks attached? The pics on Giant's website show them attached to a bracket right above the outboard u bolt. I'm guessing that could be modified as needed.

I talked to Geoff today and he told me I'd at least need 6" between the frame and my tire. I measured 7" before getting to anything that would interfere. I have to figure out how far the ubolt bracket extends away from the frame. I figure that would be easiest by measuring from the frame to the outside of the leaf spring and then from the outside of the leaf sprig to the outside of the u bolt bracket. Adding those two measurements would let me know how much width I actually need on either side. Geoff said he's never set one up on a first gen and was driving so he couldn't tell me the dimensions off the top of his head.

I've seen a couple guys relocate their shocks outside the frame with hoops and brackets on stock axles, so I'm pretty sure I could with 2.5" extra on top of that per side. If you have any of those dimensions I talked about I'd really appreciate it man. There's not many first gen or second gen guys with this kit on here. Thank you. Have a good one brother.

I'm not sure you'd have 7'' between the frame and the tire..that seems a bit off. Unless you plan on runnign 2'' wheel spacers on the rear too..in which case, id just get a tundra axle anyways.

So if the wheels / tires are the limiting factor then the widest spacer I would have to run is 1" considering the axle is 7/8" shorter on each side. In that line of reasoning I'll potentially be able to go narrower if there's no interference with the tire and the leaves. The axle has arp studs so I could run a small spacer in there and still have the same amount of grab as stock studs if that's what I can get away with. If I can get the measurements from Tyler or Geoff then I can see how narrow I can go with the rear until I long travel the front. Doing it in reverse order (front then rear) wouldn't be as fun

    Blackdawg,
I noticed his sig indicates a 2nd gen, so it's possible.
