Outer ring on crank pulley has slipped. Giving you inacurate timing mark. As i stated earlier in thread. Needs pully replaced. Time with verified tdc with straw in cylinder. Ignore crank pulley when timing.

Makes sense. I echo the mechanic. Make sure you are TDC COMPRESSION STROKE. Then set cams to timing marks.

Your crankshaft pulley has a outer ring that is held on center part with a cushion of rubber.

So middle part where slides into woodruff key is correct but rubber shredded and gave wrong timing? Is that possible?

That rubber dampener in the crank pulley still solid and intact?

Doesn't have to be shredded to slip. But if it looks shredded then hell yes.

Worst case scenario. The best argument for not using a chain or strap wrench to hold a crank pulley.

The spinning of the engine can cause it to slip if its going bad. Post pic of front and back of pulley. With it laying flat on floor. Picture straight on.

I will need to remove all the drive belts first before to get that pulley off
