I’d say about 75 percent of the time there are no issues but sometimes when I first start the truck, I don’t get cold air and I can tell the compressor isn’t working. The past couple days I just keep pushing the button over and over and it will eventually kick on but I think it may be getting worse. I’m not a mechanic by any means but I’m wondering if it’s something I can possibly troubleshoot myself. It’s summer in AZ and I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks!

Step 1 is to get a set of gauges (oreilly for sure lends them out for a deposit) and then check the pressures (there are youtube videos on this). If those are good, then its time to hunt for an electrical problem.

Keep in mind the AC in these trucks is pretty weak at idle. You may be experiencing that

It’s definitely something new happening. I’ve had this old gal for years.
