03 tacoma looking for recommendations

Hi my names grant,
I recently totaled my 04 tacoma while on my newspaper route. So I had to scramble to find a new vehicle for my job, lucky craigslist helped me locate one in half moon bay, ca. Killer deal 4x4 2003 with 190,000 miles perfect condition besides a rust spot or two, $6600 is what I paid. Now Im looking to modify it for what I love to do, go exploring in the desert. I love offroading but would like a few suggestions on what to get for my rig. I've already decided on EMU suspension set for the truck just would like to know what else I'm Missing.
