ok i have a 2003 tacoma v6 trd, first off truck always runs perfect and no check engine lights and last night i went to gas station and filled up. started it back up and it died. now every time i start it ether it will start and idle for 2 seconds and die or it wont idle or start at all. when u do get it to start if u give it gas to try to make it stay running it just dies. i check to make sure it was getting fuel and it was. any ideas?

It could be a fuel pump if it acts like its not getting gas. Next time you get it running try the seafoam treatment. I havent done it yet but Im about to.

Your IAC could be stuck also.

we sprayed throttle bodie cleaner in and it started then back fired. and we cracked fuel line under the hood and cranked the the motor over and fuel pumped out of the line.

They call it an ISC on these pages from the FSM. You have to remove the throttle body to clean the IAC. It is attached to the bottom of it. You basically clean it with throttle body cleaner or seafoam and a toothbrush.

do you think that could keep it from running. usually i thought if it isnt working properly u just have to keep given the vehicle gas to keep it running or are you saying since it might be stuck open its getting to much airflow to start?

none at all. but right now i cant tell since it wont stay running. i was thinking maybe bad gas from the gas station but i dont think it would circulate that quick in the system to mess it up. its just weird that i fill up at gas station then it wont run.

Yes, I agree this is very weird. You could try the scan tool anyway. There may be a code there.

You could also try pinching the bottom of the fuel pressure regulator return line to eliminate that.

I think it is only supposed to be on when cranking.

so after getting the taste of bad gas out of my mouth we put new gas in the truck it started but had a ruff time so we cracked the fuel line and cranked it and tightened it back and she fired right up and runs like a champ now. that goes to show how fast bad gas will effect your car.
