I'm in need of changing the timing belt on my 04 Tacoma v6 manual transmission.... I've read tons on the net about the project but a few questions remained unanswered. First off, Alot of the kits I see with all the accesory belts and water pump also include a new tensioner (most the kits are right around $300)... So with a new tensioner, I wont need the Blue Point Tool correct?? My other thought is that I read its a bit more of an ordeal to change out the tensioner and maybe I should just get the tool to compress the original tensioner and piece together all the parts rather than buying the kit (kit also includes cam shaft seals and crank shaft seal which I'm doubting I'll need i'm hoping...but price will dictate)

Other question retains to the water pump (since apperently water pumps are different depending on wether or not there is an oil cooler or not)... I'm not seeing an oil cooler (and I'm assuming it's not an engine oil cooler but a transmission oil cooler) so am I right to say those are only on the auto transmissions?

    Thanks

Yes - the different water pump is for auto transmission models with the transmission oil / fluid cooler (a component of the factory towing package).
