Just reading this mod you have posted here while searching the net...thanks for the info btw....parts prices here at my local dealer for my Tacoma were around $35. for the relay and $135. for the jumper!! Kind of crazy....will order the parts from your post....and gladly pay the $25. shipping charges to Nova Scotia Canada on top of the $52. parts!! The Truck is USA brought into Canada....Canadian Tire did a DRL mod to it to make it legal in Canada....one of the worst wiring jobs I've seen in all my life...this mod will clean it up just fine...thanks for the post :)

Mod worked great on 2011 Tacoma Base model. Some extra photos are attached that help between steps 2 and 3. Photos show the back of the unit removed, the components to remove and the jumper/relay installed.

    Great pics.
Clarifies it for those of us who have not yet done the mod and are wanting to do it without taking the dash apart.

I did mine 4 years ago and best I can recall the plugs that are shown in the pics are on the back side of the block and you have to unscrew the block to get to it. I don't know if you can get to it without removing the lower dash panel which really isn't that difficult and I am an old fat man with fat fingers.

Ya... I don't have fat fingers.
Someone recently posted having to remove the washer reservoir to replace the passenger headlight and I was thinking WTF?

Wouldn't you know it... I drove to work the next morning with one headlight and replaced both before leaving for home.
Nope... it was tight but I did it.

The kit that TDRParts4U has is only for model years 2005 - 2011: http://trdparts4u.toyotaofdallas.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=-5551
They do not (yet) have a kit for 2012-2013.

I was able to confirm with my local dealership that there are different electronics in the 2012 (and thus also 2013), but I haven't been able to track down the correct part numbers. If anyone finds them, please post here!

    Hello Sir,
I have a 05 Toyota Tacoma, Pre-Runner V6, Crew cab. Please help me, I'm a bit confuse about the jumper and relay harness. Do I need to buy both of the parts Toyota Part # 81980-35020 (jumper), and Toyota Part # 82241-04030 (relay harness). Where do I need to install this parts.
    Thanks,
    Paterno

    Awesome!
    Question:
what happens when you use the turn signals with the headlights on and headlights off?

Using factory parts, the DTRLs will be on when the headlights and parking light are off, turn off with the parking lights.

They operate as normal turn signals whether on or off.

Please read the entire thread.. 2012 and 2013 take different parts.

This doesn't contribute to the melting headlights, does it?

No way to tell. Some trucks have a problem, some don't. Doesn't seem to be pinned down to a specific year range or model, hot weather may contribute.
There's a dozen threads on the melting issue, and the data points span nearly all years.

I've got the kit, and aftermarket light housings, but I'm stalling until I can do the flasher resistor mod and run LED.

If someone could help me out that would be nice, maybe I'm a little thick but I can't figure out where the second white plug goes in.

    ImageUploadedByTapatalk1362771366.406896.jpg

I got the grey one, but I can't seem to find where this white one goes in. From the pictures it looks like it goes

    ImageUploadedByTapatalk1362771433.018190.jpg

To that grey one with the blue dashes? But it doesn't seem to fit. Thanks and sorry for the crappy pics

Not sure if that's the part being talked about, but it says in the OP that there is a grey cap/cover that has to be removed before plugging the new plug in...

I'm pretty sure I got that part, unless that grey piece with the blue lines needs to be removed. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1362773226.169030.jpg
    I got that one out

EDIT never mind figured it out thanks.
