Toyota Corporate called me at the house last night. Basically told me tough shit, out of warranty. They DID however, express concern that the worthless local dealership would not even bother to look at the issue, even though I was paying for the frame inspection.
We did talk about the E0D campaign which the lady seemed to think would be expanded to more states in June. Apparently they are worried about running out of replacement frames...
    Big shocker there..
So I am now stuck with a truck sized lawn ornament that was worth 15-16k....

Thats where I was left... Wait to see if they start fixing them or not. The truck would be a rust pile in the driveway by then or broken in half on the road. It wouldnt be worth anything in that condition, or if I started welding plates in to try and save it. Wasnt work the risks to me

Well good news is that VA is on the list of states covered by E0D so you will get new frame, bad news is you may have to wait a while for VA turn. I am in CT so we are not first wave either. I am actually happy after seeing what piss poor job they do with coating.

Joedirt, as was suggested already, I think you need to find another dealer.

    They vary greatly ... Unfortunately.

    This is how it starts:
2010 Access Cab from Eastern Canada with 66,000 KM (About 40,000 miles)
    IMG_5494_5c6bc963271731dbda237f47f2671010570fbb68.jpg

This appears to be the worst of the rust. So far it's just on the surface, but it appears that it's due to the coating on the frame being very thin. Here it looks like the coating was compromised by debris thrown up by the front wheels allowing water and salt in do do its nasty work.

Do I have a leg to stand on?

I was involved in these threads about the 2nd gen rust issues a while ago but stopped really following them once I had to get rid of my truck. My pictures are still in here. I had to get rid of the truck because it was no longer safe for my kids to be in. I traded it in, in November but now I have a new truck with a 5 year payment when I could have been driving my old tacoma had the thing not rusted to shit

Here are some pics of my '05 which I promised on another thread when I learned back in March that Toyota would replace the frame due to an inspection done then while in for a seat belt recall. No perforation near the cat (sorry no picture worth posting from that location). The dealer reported a perforation at one of the cab mounts, but I can't find that crawling underneath.

Frame will be replaced on Monday and Tuesday of next week, with a loaner provided, and no labor on part replacements which I can elect to have done -- things like that bald/exposed steering knuckle and shocks. All brake and other hydraulic lines will be replaced, and I'll try to get as much information as I can about what else they will replace as part of the frame replacment work.

No mention when scheduling the job earlier this week of the spray on campaign.

Hope these are helpful to someone, and thanks to everyone for all their posts on this topic.

Just got a recall/warranty notice in the mail about getting my '08 frame inspected. If it passes they will apply the coating to it, if it fails they said they would address it. Anyone had the coating put on after having their truck inspected. If they put the coating on, will they still replace the frame if it perforates in the future. My hitch is also nasty. I can't get the hitch out of the receiver with out pounding it out. Thanks
