This seems to be standard operating procedure when dealing with corporate. They will take note of your problem and that's it.

They are not going to expose themselves to things which might lead to litigation. Hence tight lips and the brush off.

This is why a good relationship with a dealer's service dept is important -- they're the ones who will go to bat for you within the TMC internal network.

I have an 05, with a 1" hole in frame next to drivers side cat, just like everyone else. Took it to dealer (Oxmoor Toyota Louisville,Ky) two days ago. Service manager approved new frame, They had to order it, said it will take about two weeks to get one

How many people have mods that are welded on, or involved cutting and what have the dealerships been saying so far about them and denying rust work ect.?

I'd imagine as long as the major damage isn't starting around these weld or cut points and there is plenty of it elsewhere, you should have a fighting chance. But this probably depends on the dealer and how persistent and willing you are to call corporate.

The last time the dealership saw my truck was when I bought it stock send they're about 4 he's away. There is one closer (1.5 hrs) but I don't think they will be willing to do much haha

Appt. tomorrow morning for some recalls & a frame inspection. Guy seemed surprised there was a hole in the frame. I asked if any other 05's had come in for this & he said no. Then why are there 4 tacoma frames stacked up behind the service building?!?

Just received a letter for the frame rust issues , will treat the frame , but if gone too far will replace it ( that's my understanding on the letter I received ) :)

Is there any way to check your vin for an American truck that's up in Canada? My Toyota dealership missed my airbag recall because they were only looking for vin numbers in canada and didn't check the American ones. But I can't register myself on that website because I live in canada

This seems ridiculous. They replace frames in KY, VT, CAN, etc. but not NY.
I hope they do NY before winter rolls around... don't know if my frame will make it another winter...

And corporate has no idea when they are going to do NY. At least thats what she told me.

The dealer told me I'd have to return the truck to stock before they replaced the frame if they were going to post the frame .
And I think if I read one more fluid film post in this thread I'm going to lose it. I've seen trucks sit in fields for 30 years and have less frame rust.

Try to hang in there .... I assume you have documentation that you contacted Toyota and the NTSB just in case?? Eventually, someone will get in an accident that is caused by the frame - or an accident that accordions the frame and then they will really wake up....

What dealer did u take it to for the inspection? I had a bit of back & forth with the CS REP. before she asked where my truck was originally registered (VT 3yrs), then NY for six. After that I got a new case # & was told a regional rep would call me in 24hrs.

Don't know if it's progress or a run around!
