Update: Spent some time on the phone with the next closest dealer, then took my truck there today. MUCH better experience. Was told they've only done a few frames, but they've never charged anyone for anything. Also quoted me a 2-3 month wait time for a frame, after saying 6 months on the phone last week? We'll see...

I just got my truck back after 5 months. Only parts that I paid for were a new rack and pinion and a power steering hose. No charge for the loaner vehicle(s) either.

I was given a loaner [a 14 Tundra TRD] for free too. Took it in on a Monday and they called at noon on Thursday and said it was done. They even put my poly steering rack bushings that I had been sitting on for over 6 months in free of charge, and gave me my AAL back. Didnt cost me a anything other than 20 minutes to drop it off and 20 minutes to pick it up.

Just dropped mine off, was told 6-7 months until it would be done. They said Toyota takes forever to get the frames to them, once the frame is in it would only be a few days til it would be done. I was given a camry as a loaner... Hopefully they dont find anything that needs to be fixed or replaced that isn't included in the recall.

My inspection may or may not be out. "Irregardless" , it wouldn't pass if it "was" out. That said, anyone have any ideas how to persuade the dealer or corporate into putting out for a truck loaner? The dealership im using doesnt offer one, nor will pay for enterprise rental. Girl with Toyota Corp says she will negotiate with the dealership and see what can be worked out. I just want a truck. Is that so much to ask?

My replacement frame is due to be at my dealership within the week (hopefully) - it was ordered March 23rd. My truck is an '06 pre-runner double cab with 134k miles. I'm considering having the coil-overs and rear shocks replaced while the dealership is doing the swap. Any thoughts on this? Any other parts that I should consider replacing while the labor is free? Although my dealership has done several, and they tell me it will be done in 3-4 days, I do plan on taking a lot of pictures of my truck before I hand it over to the dealership.

Im interested in this as well, although my dealer said it was half off for the labor... Is there anywhere that says it's supposed to be free labor?

I took my 06 in about 1.5 months ago and i still have another month to wait on my frame swap. Inconvenient but its better in the long run.

I called the dealership and asked if they would charge me labor costs to install new coil-overs and rear shocks- the guy I talked to told me that I would be charged anything for labor since they do have to install them anyway as part of the swap. I will make sure that I get that in writing before I hand over the keys.

This really pisses me off. Either the Dealer is incompetent or they are double dipping for the labor at your expense. At the least that would be fraud. Tell the dealer to put that in writing and tell him you will send a copy to corporate for an explanation/response. If they reneg contact corporate anyway and post the results so others can steer clear of that money trap. JMHO

On my earlier post I meant to say that I wouldn't be charged labor for any new parts I purchased and ask to have installed (i.e. coil-overs, shocks, etc)

If you get that in writing, please post it here for us. Im assuming its only no labor for parts that would have to be removed and put back for the frame swap though?

I will do so. I only asked about the coil-overs and rear shocks, nothing else.

My truck is sittin with just a spacer lift. When they do the frame swap and find rust on the control arms and such, do you know if they will replace those as well or just the frame out right?

My truck is in as we speak. Added new drive belt and center support bearing to the list of parts. Will post some pics later today.

They won't give you new spacers but they should swap them onto the new frame. I have custom leaf packs which I don't think nor want them to touch, so I will be taking those off.
