I really can't say enough good things about how this frame swap went. Couldn't have been easier unless they came and picked up the truck and delivered it back but short of that they had all parts there, rental car ready, called me to discuss what I wanted replaced extra and had it 2 days only and ... DONE. Charged me for shock/strut part cost (bout $400) and that was that. Rides new, quiet like new... whoopee time for detailing. I also give big kudos to Toyota for stepping up on this. They could have done a lot of things to clean their hands but I believe they did this one right. I'll buy Toyota again in the future. Dealer here by the way is Jeff Wyler Toyota in Springfield Ohio. Thanx everyone here for all the valuable info I read on this thread. Great info!

Same here. Dropped it off Wednesday evening, they had a loaner ready to go. I told them to leave the Dakars in it and not to fix anything else they came across. The truck was ready to pick up Friday morning. Zero complaints besides getting a Corolla as a loaner :D

I tried the same thing for a loaner. Told them I had to haul firewood but they don't care. I did end up with a 2015 Sienna though, I was impressed.

Seems the frame program is nearing the end. I only see 4 or 5 new frames at a time in the dealer lot.

I am considering buying a 2009 Tacoma TRD from an individual. My question is he has never had it inspected and is 2nd owner of truck. Never even heard of this he said. Can one only take a truck to a toyota dealer if you bought it new? Will they possibly replace frame if needed if bought used? Thanks

You could always climb under it and inspect the hell out of it before buying it. Best bet is to bring a decent inspection camera and feed it up into the frame to inspect it around the front cab body mounts.

Ok yes I've visually inspected it very well. Might see if I can come up with someone who has a camera I could borrow. Thanks for the advice.

just a word to ya. I'm no mechanic but like said prior I had mine up on a rack got underneath and banged the heck out of the frame with a screwdriver and hammer as well had the lead mechanic at the garage look at it. Thought it looked OK. Failed at dealership. Penc in time will save a dime in the bush (old yiddish chinese scottish saying)...

Bought a 2012 2.7L 5 speed 4x4 about 4 weeks ago I inspected it very well I couldn’t tell if the frame had been painted or not because there is no overspray underneath the truck. If it is painted it was done with care should it worry me if it has been painted. I’ll upload some pics.

Looks pretty good, watch the welds, tough to get the oxidation out of the filler. Fluid film or similar would be good, make sure to use lots of dish soap and rinse before coating to get best effect.
