Hey guys lets try to keep all the preventive measures and BS out of here.

Trying to keep this thread clean for members who need new frames and for members who have done so already.

Fell free to start your own threads on maintenance or post in the many other threads already available.

For once it would be nice to keep a TW thread on topic.

My frame is doing that in some spots, although there isn't any rust in those spots either.

Not directed at anyone especially you. Just trying to keep it clean. Please feel free to post here. Your the EXACT people we need posting in here to help others out. The whole point was for people like you to be in here. Just not the others bashing you for not painting the frame or other hogwash.

I don't have any pictures to post at this time, but my truck just failed inspection because of frame rot on both front body mounts. It is now illegal to drive in the state of WV and is in the shop being patched (on my dime of course).

    State: WV
    Year: 2006
    Model: 4x4 Access Cab, V6
Status of Toyota Inspection: Toyota dealer noted issue during Throwout Bearing replacement a few months back. Reported issue to Corporate and was advised that "We do not have any current recalls for the second generation Tacomas."

You might want to politely ask Toyota for a "good will repair" on this. My brother in law's 60k mile 05 failed inspection recently due to about a quarter-sized hole in the frame. The dealer took photos and sent them to corporate and in another week or so he's dropping it off for a frame replacement free of charge.

I brought my truck into Daytona Toyota on Friday January 18, 2014 for brakes. I was called by my service person and told that the truck had very large caner/rust rot on the frame and was unsafe to drive and That I should come in ASAP.

The service manager and mechanic agreed that this is the same issue as the recall but state that their was nothing they could do because there hand were tied my Corporate Toyota office. They told me to call and submit a complaint to:
and that they would contact the regional rep.
Submitted a complaint with Toyota - submitted under reference number:#140117-000208.
Opened a case with NHTSA 2- Confirmation number (ODI Number) is: 10560442

I received an email denying any support for the issue. 1/18/14

Any ideas how to move froward ? I am stuck Daytona Toyota Scion will not help me at all and I am stuck.

I have NO RUST AT ALL.

This is supposed to be a poll, where do I vote.

I live in Canada and they pour the slat on the roads. It isn't really that cold, we have many days around 30 to 35 Ferinheit which is Really bad.

I had my truck oil sprayed at my local OIL GUARD, once a year, since new.

My truck looks brand new underneath.

My 05 failed inspection, condemned, at dealership now waiting to see if Toyota will replace frame. There should be a class action lawsuit. Someone's going to get killed when a frame snaps in half on a nine year old truck the looks fine like mine!

    Year of production: 2005
Exact model of truck: TRD Sport W/tow pkg.
Status of Toyota inspection: Inspected by dealer 8/12 - "No perforations"
Picture of frame rust: Pics taken 5/12 attached.

Noticed the frame rusting beginning several years ago and rattle can sprayed the frame. Rusting progressed and had the dealer inspect it in 8/12. They hit the frame with a welding hammer at the rear wheel opening and said there were no perforations. Cleaned and applied POR-15 to frame in 11/12. Rust is now bubbling up under coated frame and around the hitch.

Watching this thread, it's only a matter of time...
