Im in RI and original owner, actually bought two 05's, trucks looks great but a rotten chassis, nine years old perfect looking truck and its condemned, Toyota must do something to make all these good, i cant believe they would totally screw over loyal customers and open them selves open to liability if someone gets killed in one of these trucks. This is nothing like the BS Prius crap issues, there is documented admission of bad frames throughout the Tacoma's.

same problem, no pics as of yet. My truck is an 06 AC 4.0 manuel. I sent an email to toyota last year, and their response was only " we are sorry but there is no recall on your vehicle.

I don't have any underside pics but will post some later. I have an 09' that looks like hell. I dunno why either because I'm the kind of person to go spray the bottom off the next day after our road crews dump salt all over the street.

Another rusted through Tacoma frame here. No luck getting Toyota to do anything about it. I don't have pics, but there are holes and it will not pass state inspection because of the frame. I am basically stuck with a useless vehicle.

    State: PA
    Year of production: 2005
Exact model of truck: Tacoma 4x4 Access Cab SR5
Status of Toyota inspection: Failed state inspection

Hopefully I never run into the issue, but if I end up with a frame that can't pass inspection, and Toyota won't do anything about it, I'll trade it in.

Need a class action lawsuit or something so yota gets off its ass.

Maybe some media attention would help.

I wonder if there are any Lawyers on TW that might enjoy rattling Toyota's cage:confused:

They finally replaced the frame in my brother in law's 60K mile 05 last month. From what his dealer said and what I've been hearing from the parts guys at the dealer I use it won't be long before they are doing another frame program like they did on the 1st gens. Which wasn't a recall BTW. Thankfully mine's fine and I have taken preventative measures to keep it that way.

Sub'd, mine is rusty, but I really have to reinspect it soon. I feel if I clean it or treat it, the rust will just go inward and get worse. The hitch is pretty bad though, bubbles..

I am in Rhode island and as of yesterday my truck is deemed unsafe to drive due to frame damage.
Ive only owned it for a little over 1 year and it was inspected at this dealership as well as wheel bearing replacements before purchase.

I am currently ride less and waiting on a call from the service manager.

I just noticed the front shackle on the right rear leaf spring is rotted through
in several places. Is this considered part of the frame???

This is a 2005 Taco sr5,4.0 a/t 4x4 Mass truck w/ 130,000 miles. Will be going into the dealer soon for their opinion but hope they don't say it is unsafe and tell me I cant drive it. [IMG]
