Team TW i have a unique build on the go not like most of the builds you see on this site. It is more a Rebuild with customization to suit my needs for a truck. If your interested my 2007 build can be found here

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/canadian-family-taco-build-and-bs.527692/

All questions will be directed to a 2007 Tacoma crew cab long box 4x4 v6 with 380000km

No bs in this Post just to the point questions that i hope to get answers to so i can source research needed parts and info, and i can spend my "free time" lol working on my project. My truck is not always available for me to size things up.

    1. Are the rubber splash shields from the frame to the body in the wheel well that cover the motor the same on each side ?

    2. Brake line "line nuts" i will be replacing the rear hard lines on the axel from the wheel cylinder to the flex line. What size tread do i need ? I would like to pick up extra Nuts for the whole truck, what sizes should i have in Tacoma stock ?

    3. Hand brake cable bolts size used to attach to backing plate.

    4. Wheel cylinder bolt size used to attach to backing plate

    5. Idler replacement i bought the kit (belt tensioner and idlers) has high KM and i want to change the tensioner. I know there are a few DIY's but have not found one that deals with the removal of tensioner. Do you know of one ? Are all the bolts are reverse tread ? What is the tourque for each ?

    6. new frame, and i noticed that there are big open holes in my frame with no plugs in them. Some people say its not included with the frame recall, some said it was not on the Canadian trucks PLUG KIT - TOYOTA (04002-07104)

I am sure i will have more but this is the start Thanks for taking the time to read and hopefully share your knowledge Thanks :)

I work for toyota in the US and i can't see what the technical instruction read for your country. We get plug kits in the US for the front boxed section only, After the frame turns to C channel no plugs are applied into the frame there should also be big plugs right at the box to C channel Section. If you look under your truck on the drivers side its right next to where the rear brake lines go body to frame on the inside obviously.

Here are some pics of a 4x4 plug kit this is a 2tr truck. I install the plugs right before I put the power packs back in it’s easier this way but it can be done with the cab on and drive train in.

I seen somewhere there was 29 plugs ?

I am going to have to find a way to get some in Canada

Do you think they are worth it ?

Do you have any suggestions or tricks to treat the inside of the frame with a rust check ?

    Thanks for the pictures :)

Honestly i don't know how many plugs the kit has i never counted. I know there is a difference between the spay kits and frame replacement kits. The frame plug kits are on Manual release only and the average person wont be able to order it, But you can order the spray plug kit and end plugs separate. I am not sure if the plugs work toyota sends them and i install them lmao. I am not a fan of the toyota chemicals for customer paid under coating we use a stuff called final coat. When my personal trucks frame comes in a few months i plan on using their wax on the inside of the frame and undercoating the top of the frame before dropping my cab on and then doing the entire outside of the frame. No problem on the pictures glad i could help.

I was missing my passenger side slash guards, and made replacements out of bargain bin floor mats for a full size pickup, and used the driver side as a template, no issues with lining up the fasteners to the holes...
Found this and they look to be symmetrical left to right

There is also a user that is making an upgraded splash guard with improved coverage, that you might consider if you're making from scratch.

As for the tensioner, there is a write up on here somewhere, I can't find it right now but it bolts to the driverside block, you have to remove the alt and a/c compresser as they bolt to it, Not real hard just a pita, all bolts are rite thread no reverse.

2018 new Frame (thank you Rust!), FJ T-case swap. SPC(LR) UCAs, Bilstein 5100s front - rear, OME 883 at 0, HeadStrongOffRoad 3 leaf progressive AAL, MESO custom 2nd gen (Red/White) LED dome & Ultimate Maps, Spyder Halo Projector w LEDs (which SUCK), Spyder LED tails
I recently had a Frame/ Rear Leaf replacement (warranty) job done on my [2006 DCSB 4x MT w/ 220k miles] and wondered IF it would have been smart for me to have replaced the Cab Mounts and the (2) motor/ 1 Trans Mounts while the truck was dis-assembled.... I so wish i could have had some more time to research/ get better advise...but they (you all) do the entire job in just a day or two.... but I elected Not to replace any of those components... but sort of wish now in hindsight that I would have.

I suppose someday in the future I will have the Trans out for a (what will be the first) clutch job, so i could address that mount then. Maybe some day way in the future i'll rebuild the Motor and get those 2 mounts then.... Not sure if i'll ever get the cab off again though....

    Thanks for your "insider" opinions!!
