Oh yeah I completely understand, most likely something simple, I definitely say get the battery eliminated first, then start with other things, hopefully for the op it's simple so it will get him going quickly and cheaply!

What could of caused that? Is the fuse holder corroded to cause increased resistance and heat?

Yeah I'd be wondering just why in the fuck that fuse would blow, let alone MELT. SERIOUS concerns there.

I would check that fuse socket. I don't see how it wasn't further damaged from the heat.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears that is a standard mini fuse that was in the slot, and not the micro fuses that surround it. Has it been an issue before this?

After checking the diagram and junction layout, the melted side is the feed side of the slot. It is possible the spades on that "wrong style" of fuse fit too loosely into the slot and could be building heat. I would take a trip and put the correct micro fuse in there and make sure it fits snugly into its slot.

I didn't catch that... After looking at the picture again I think you nailed the initial problem.

I would be more worried about damage to the contact clips in that slot now. They do weaken with that kind of heat...

Def put the right frickin fuse in the hole.

Not to dig up old threads but I literally just had this exact same issue. I went through the paces of checking fuel spark ect. Hell even had a "trusted " shop do a fuel pump cause I could t figure it out. Sure as hell same problem. Same fuse. Runs great now but was there ever a found issue as to why this circuit got overwhelmed? My truck is still new to me and I'm curious if a previous owner did something to maybe cause this.

Is there a fuel safety shut off reset button on tacomas?
I had a car do this and it was because the fuel shut off valve had been triggered, supposed to shut off after an impact, but it was those darn rumble strips on the highway that triggered it somehow.

This happened to me just the other day on my 2016 Tacoma 2.7 4cyl....Just the day before I had opened my fuse box to look for a horn relay that blew and must have clipped the EFI relay with the fuse box cover when closing it. After hours of trying to diagnose it finally realized it was a loose pin connector at the EFI. Lesson here. Be careful when closing your fuse box as the EFI fuses are on the outside edges of the panel!!!!

The horrifying thing is this was a gradually increasing problem, so that fuse was melting maybe for a while... I'd ruled out fuses because it was a problem that got progressively worse

Until you pull the plugs, you areonly guessing they are not the problem.

So we faced a similiar situation today. Truck was running fine. Parked it and tried starting it next day and would only crank. Battery measured 12.8 volts and crank was strong. After hrs of reading thru this forum for similiar situation and trying different things, it turned out the problem was a bad key. The anti theft mechanism sensed that this was an old key and not the new key that had been made. Drove the day before using the new key and then today mixed the keys up and was trying to use the old key to start the car.
