not sure if you told us already but I'm really interested into putting a backup camera in, I'm just not sure on which brand or where to get a great camera from?

nbiba, I think you are looking for the forum in the 2nd gen discussions, "2015 back up cameras". There is a lot of info on aftermarket kits. Good luck.

This mod is awesome if you are alone and have to line up with your trailer. Thanks to Aalders for all the leg work. I wanted a stock look so I changed it up a bit and installed a slider switch in the rear view mirror itself. Once the mirror is removed from it's housing, there is a surprising amount of space back there (the mirror and display are only about 5/8" thick)
Fear and common sense aside, the mirror face came off with a lot of care and a flat tip screw driver. I found it easier to start opening the side first, then the top and ending with the bottom.
I made my connections below the connecter that Aalders used. The colour coding of the wiring changed (of course). The green wire changed to a black and the red was red on both sides of the connecter. This photo was taken when I was testing it out -I covered all of the exposed wiring before installation.
In the last picture its hard to see the switch, but I guess that was the idea. If I could do it again, I would put the switch on the bottom right hand side of the mirror to make it a little more intuitive.

Nice! I think I want to do it this way. It's frustrating when the image goes away when pulling forward an inch or two during line up. Drives me nuts.

Any chance this same idea could work with the B/U camera on the Entunes screen?

Hey Dan, it could be used for the Entunes screen mod... it uses the same type of switch it would just require some creative wire routing. So if your back up camera already displays on the head unit and you just want a selectable B/U camera its super easy. If you are trying to move the display from the mirror to the head unit... That's above my paid grade -I have no idea.

I used 22 gauge wiring I had from a previous project. Once you see the size of the wire you are tapping into the 22 gauge will look huge. Good luck with your project!

Although a switch still activates it when you shift into reverse. It is possible.

Does anyone have the part number for this cover? I took mine off to drill it for a switch and then it turns out the switch I bought didn't work and I'd have to buy another that uses a small hole.

@Hunter.V.White, you could run a three way switch to run to a front, rear or off maybe for that rock cam conversation we had yesterday.

I had raised the r/view mirror in my '13 TRD, so mounting the switch in the stem cover wasn't an option. I mounted a SPDT rocker switch on the side of the overhead console. Looks clean and I'm the only one who sees it.
