What kind of blatant hypocracy is this??? The Tacoma brochure has ALWAYS been full of pics of off-road and muddy/dirty Tacomas. Never saw "fine print" below any of these pics that say anything about voided warranty if the truck was muddy or dirty.

Toyota perpetuates this image for the Tacoma. Hell, there's a huge pic of a new Tacoma in a huge mud pit hanging in the hallway of the Toyota North American headquarters in Erlanger, KY.

I have a 05 Tacoma and the alternator got fried when water came up over the front bumper while I was pulling a friend of mine out of a mudhole. The dealership replaced it under warranty and they even paid for having it towed there even though you couldnt tell what color the truck was with all the mud covering it.

Unfortunatley there is no consistency with Toyota nationally.. Might be because of the "regional owner/distributor" system.

Looks like Im going to Arbitration. After a massive following and comment post on Toyota USA's facebook page, I finally receive a call from someone at corporte who told me what "outside influence" means. Apparently they said that the mud on the truck and the undercarage suggested it was used outside of it capabilities. They can say what ever they want. I know how I was driving that vehicle. Also, they said that because my from skid plate has scratched on it that it also suggests that my breakage in there rear is due to "outside influence". Skid plate is not even scratched not even scratched, it's the markings from the grass wiping off the mud. I am thinking of going into arbitration with this forum. Are there any other suggestions?

The first unfortunate screw up is the dealer being idiots. The second is Toyota corporate BLINDLY trusting the dealer. Clearly your truck is dirty, but SO not used beyond the expectations of which it was built.

    Too few to list.
I'm confused. So basically your 2009 4x4 TRD Off-Road is not suppose to go "Off-Road" because it's considered "outside influence"?

While it's kind of sad-funny, anyone surprised at the dealer trying to deny a warranty claim on a dirty truck shouldn't be.

I mean, you have every right to say it's bullshit - it is - but you really have no excuse for being surprised.

I would collect every possible different Tacoma brochure you can get ahold of. Their own pics in the brochures will be the damming evidence. How much publicity do they want or need suggesting the Tacoma, even in TRD Off-Road form, is not capable or suited for off-road activity (let alone farm road travel)? Is this really worth Toyota destroying the image they've perpetuated and encouraged for the Tacoma all this time?

On a side note, IF Toyota comes to their senses and approves the repair, I would sure as hell NOT reward your dealer with the repair job, I'd tow it elsewhere to another dealer. It's the dealers fault that the stupidity has escalated to where it is.
