Better suggestion. Have someone write an "official letter" of complaint and then have us all email a copy of that. Kind of like what comes thru the mail every once and a while for sending to your congressman. Then it seems less like we're all just being bitchy because we can. Uniform front.

    OP - Get 'em.

I bought my truck from this same dealership in Fairfield in 2009. Since then the dealership owner has changed - it was owned by thomason auto group in 2009, now the owner is momentum auto group. I also bought GAP insurance and wanted to cancel it after I payed the truck off. The new owner doesn't accept any liability made by previous owner and sent me to a dead po box and and an always busy phone number which are supposed to be used to contact the previous owner. Your case is different of course, warranty shouldn't depend on dealership ownership.

and people buy EXTENDED "Service Contracts with a company that operates this way on a Warranty.......Incredible but I have to say if nothing else, Toyota knows how to make money on their loyalists.

At this point, stay persistent with your public complaints. Keep going to corporate and screw the local dealer. If it gets to be too drawn out, you may eat the bullet and have a lawyer draft up a letter for you. might cost you half the repair but they should back down.

Thats because other car companies are even crappier then Toyota.
What else is there to buy?
Nissan (rusting radiators that kill transmission, blowingheadgaskets, rear ends that fail, burned transmissions, worst factory service manual ever)
Ford (transmission problems are legendary, service dept that will rip you off on every part, rip you on repairs everytime you visit, try gettign factory manual for it, spare parts are super low quality)
GM ( right, this one is still catching up to Ford in quality)
Honda (good service but anything you touch voids warranty, expensive service as hell, Factory service manual limited and super expensive) not to mention Ridgeline is not even real pickup. More like lifted minivan.

There are not too many choices here.

I understand brand loyalty. But to say the Ridgeline isn't a truck is a little too blindly loyal . The fugly truck won the Baja 1000 mini stock last year by a convincing margin, The Tacoma didn't finish..

So why the Ridegline is not a pick up truck by definition? Becasue it's comfortable? Has a trunk under the bed? Handles well?
Seems to me the Ridegline more than proved itself stock off road vs Ford and Toyota by hours. I would never buy the Honda, but I respect it for what it is and apparantly what it can do off road basically stock. One has to respect a 1000 mile Baja race if they are off road enthusiasts. Not to mention the other wins it has under it's belt off road. Certainly some bragging rights there.

    '07 Baja 250 win, '08 SCORE Primm 300, '08 Best in the Desert (BITD) Silver State 300, '08 Baja 1000, '09 Primm 300, '09 Baja 250, '09 Baja 500, '09 Laughlin Desert Challenge, and the 2010 Baja 1000.

I like Toyota, have two of em, and would likely buy another, but that doesn't blind me to the positives and accolades of another proven brand.

So desert runs are now somehow an Offroad capability guage. You do relize race cars have nothign to do with factory cars right?
Its like saying because Citroen wins WRC its somehow super nice car and better then Toyota because Toyota does not compete in WRC.

    Ridgeline is lifted minivan

    Independent suspension in the rear
    Frame integrated with the body
5000LB towing capacity for truck bigger then Tacoma.

Tacoma is pegged at 6500LB not because it can not tow more but because if they registered with more towing capacity it would loose its perks of non-fullsize trucks.

BTW its not brand loyalty its knowledge about cars ;). Trust me if somebody comes up with something better then Tacoma (small size, diesel, solid axle o n the front, simple design) I would trade my Tacoma in a second but so far everybody else are worst then Toyota Tacoma :)

IF Toyota did not compete under the same conditions I would agree. But both Tacoma and FJ were in that race and did not finish. It is a Stock mini class race Suspension is mostly stock with a few alllowances to for larger tires
In that regard and with those limitations, a 1000 mile race through the Baja desert is certainly indicative of "stock" off road capability.

I cannot ignore those facts simply because I prefer Toyota enough to call a Ridgeline a non starter in the pick up truck world. It accomplishes the same thing differently, that's all. If it were not in that class by design, certainly more knowledgeable folks running and racing in those races, sponsors and the competitors would raise a "no fair" flag.

Well then that "uni body cargo vehicle" dusted the "real" off road Toyotas......which could not even finish the race. Just sayin. Cannot ignore the obvious. Apparently uni body vehicles are not to be messed with in those conditions.

Again How is racing any indication of car quality or capability. Its only indication of who got better sponsor. Are you talking about Tacoma run by Donahoe racing? because I am pretty sure Toyota did not put Tacoma in Baja. But I know Honda had put Ridgeline.

    Pretty much stock
Real Trucks are RWD......I do love honda though..I have a honda 4 wheeler, hell i have a honda riding mower...Ridgeline, Negative no way. Of course if i had no intention of going offroad and felt like turning in my man card i'd buy one...they tow great, ride good, reliability is good and its a honda..but in all reality it is a pilot with a bed. Standard FWD until loss of traction, unless you lock everything in low gear.

Your gona have to go all in .. Post up some info on the dealer on here so we can all call and complain? Phone# , your name in question?

This is such a bummer. Toyota isn't making the same Trucks as they used to. It's sad. They used to have such a good reputation. Starting to think my next truck will be a Ford. Ford's new truck are great i've heard, and the tranny problems are decreasing also....

Ford has improved greatly with winning JD powers awards and Consumer Reports awards. Toyota better watch out because they are so keen on profits now that they are starting to fall.

Time to step back up Toyota. And to those that blame the falloff of qualtiy on the move to production of Toyota's to the US, Ford production is here as is Kia/Hyunda production which is also making the move on Toyota.
