1.5" Blocks...

    Billy's @ .85 w/ Eibachs front, TSB w/ 5100's rear + 1.5" AAL & shims, Debadged, Avid Bolt On Sliders, NFab Light Bar w/ (2) Lightforce 170's. Weathertechs, ATO bed bars.
    So this Friday I'll be installing 1.5" blocks w/ 9/16" U bolts from Beefed. Pretty solid stuff when compared to the aluminum blocks.

    The reason I went with the blocks is simply that I didn't want to cut into the new TSB leaf pack I just got, yet I still wanted to get the back raised up higher than my front (Eibachs, billys @ .85 and soon Built Right UCA's).

    I have searched left and right about blocks on TW and some opinions have been shared negative and positive but I wanted to hear it one last time.

    Let's hear it.

    ive had 2in blocks since june and loved them initally. but they made my leafs wear out 10x faster than they should have. even with those 2 in blocks my rear was sitting lower than my front (3in lift up front) but keep in mind you should have had a 1in rake from factory i think. but i put on an add a leaf and how i love the way it sits 10000x better. just gives it a better stances. and the rear end doesnt bottom out over everylittle bump any more. and putting in a aal doesnt make u cut into your leafs. the only thing u will most likey have to replace is the center pin and maybe longer ubolts. i love my block/aal combo

    Maybe I used the wrong word, but I still don't want to mess with the TSB pack I just got. So the question still stands. Why do folks think Blocks suck so bad?

    Because they do. They wear out the leaf pack faster.

    Just put them on. Then after your tsb leafs get shot(at least not cut right :)) then you can get a whole new offroad leaf pack. :p

    So you noticed that your springs were sagging that quick? Would the same happen to my new leaf pack? Good information to know. Thanks for the post..

    I've never seen anyone prove blocks wear you springs faster. If you use the correct block-meaning the same width and length as the stock axle perch, it will not hurt anything. People like to slam blocks because they say blocks can "fall out" I would never recommend using a tall block, but a 1-2 inch block shouldn't hurt anything. Many new ford 250's and 350's come stock with a block in the rear, as well as other vehicles. Toyota rear springs are not the best, so I like the AAL-it helps stiffen the weak stock springs.

    The farther one spaces the axle from the leaf pack the more leverage the axle has on the pack, greatly increasing axle wrap.

    Nice points made by all. I'm gunna have to think about this some more. I may just have to cut:D into the leaf pack and go with the tsb aal.

    he's going with blocks from streetacos.com. probably the best blocks you can buy out there, period. they are custom made to fit our leafs perfectly, and NOT made from aluminum. chances are a leaf will fail before these blocks will.

    oh yah. esp those hella cheap aluminum ones. ran those on my truck for a month and the were already warped. one of them had a hairline crack and both of them were worn down a good 1/8" on the top. and the ubolts that came with them were tweaked....

    That's true, the streetacos blocks are friggin solid with large u-bolts that are cut to length.
