For sure! It’s going to continue to take me forever to get done but I’ll be happier in general. Though I can’t imagine it won’t be done this winter. Lord it NEEDS to be done this winter!

Will probably get on this again tonight...or this weekend. I feel the momentum and I’d like to get these mounted on the camper!

I binged read this whole thread last night. I started out with the same requirements for a camper and was going to build my own like you. Then when you showed a picture of a Tufport I laughed. I decided to purchase the Tufport T55. After watching your build I'm glad I just sucked it up and paid for the Tufport. I still have much to do with it as I'm overseas at the moment. Will be home in January and will commence with my build. I have enjoyed watching your thought process and how you approached your issues. I have been thinking of building a flatbed for mine. Not sure on that yet.

Buying any kind of camper will save you much time and hassle. I think I’m going to really like this camper when I’m done but it’s been a Looooong process!

Who knows, I may actually get a set of these backer boards epoxied in place this weekend! That would be sweet.

Got after the ‘ol camper again tonight.

Both stub walls are epoxied in place.

    79F5B5F9-FC1D-4321-B6EB-9B605D8ED6D0.jpg
This short wall by the side door creates a nice sealed area for shoes and keeps mud/water/dirt/sand away from the mattress. At least that’s the hope!

    BFB6F9D4-BD3C-472D-99F9-56972417A5EC.jpg
This taller wall by the back window is just a ‘space’ for ‘stuff’. This is likely where our backpacks and jackets will be tossed. I thought about enclosing this with a hatch or two on top but decided that would greatly reduce the utility. As I said way back, “As soon as you define an enclosed space, you want to put something in it that’s too big”. Now I don’t really have to worry much about that.

    8D065205-12F4-4D36-A374-5D7F648B19D2.jpg
I also sanded the backer plates for the L Track. Routed the top edges as well.

I’m trying to be efficient with what I’m working on but I seem to sort of float around doing various bits here and there. I REALLY need to get on finishing the door and mounting the camper mount blocks to the flatbed. I want to get that last one done before it turns rainy next week. I’d at least like to get all the holes drilled. That feels a little more realistic. Haha.

What about mounting a slide out in that space under the camper. Either small enough to use as a camp table or big enough to use as a deck.

I have been thinking of building a van into a camper and a bed slide as a rear deck is one idea as well as a slide out at the side door for a camp stove or what ever.

Something like that could happen. I’m just not there yet. It’s a good idea and I have the material to do it already.

First set of mounting boards for the L Track are epoxied on the camper. Process was pretty easy. I might be able to get the other two sets on tonight unless we decide to go to a movie.

Lots of cleaning/sanding then I’ll fillets the edges and start glassing them in.

I like where this is going. That thing won't move at all once you got it secured!

    Another tiny trickle of progress.

    56EB81E7-423E-4A7F-8BD8-EFB7112D1E7D.jpg
I never spent too much time considering how much squish is ideal for a bulb seal. Turns out 50% is a good max squish to shoot for. Well, I didn’t have enough clearance so I made some. I routed out the back of the door and epoxy filled the core material. I’ll glass over this soon.

    BE63F2A9-A6A2-4C5F-9B28-D8E91F62E5EB.jpg
I also laid in the epoxy fillets around the two L Track mounting plates. Glass coming for those as well.

    Sloooooowly but surely.
