UPDATE on Tacoma problem. Toyota is replacing all the computers in the truck. It is a computer failure. Nothing wrong with the Transmission. After a meeting with the shop manager I learned few things. A 2019 is MUCH different than a 2018. The Radar camera behind the Toyota emblem in the front grill does 5 things. It takes the measurements of the truck from the factory and makes critical measurements of its surroundings. If you put spacers behind the rims or go to a larger tire it will throw a warning code on the dash. You can opt to turn the safety features off and go to any size wheel or tire you like. The warning light for the emerg. stop feature may come on in heavy rain because the camera lens is getting cloudy. It will go off later.
The 2019 transmission is a sealed unit. The fluid is a lifetime fluid. I should have all new computers from Toyota tomorrow. The keys have to be reprogramed to these new computers. Stand by for more info.

All that stuff is exactly the same on the 2018 and going to a slightly bigger tire will not throw a warning on the dash. Your shop manager is an idiot.

The 18 has the same cameras as the 19, sounds like they are just giving you a song and dance routine. Glad they are fixing it so you can enjoy it again.

And it is not lifetime fluid. You still have to change it and check the level to make sure it is full. There is just not a traditional dipstick for it. Again your shop manager is an idiot.

I would like to hear from a 2019 owner that has opted to go to larger rims or tires. That would settle this for sure.

There are plenty of posts in here where 2019's are running larger tires. Search around a bit and you will find them.

LOL, Lifetime.... HAHAHAHA!! try at 30k miles or so... do a drain, and fill... every 60k miles should be a flush and filter change.. no fluid last forever.. especially here in the rust belt with all the salt, and temperature extremes we see I put my vehicles instantly on the harsh environment detail as far as fluids/service goes..

Fox Toyota has been there for years. Fox Chevrolet sold to Rusty Wallace a couple of years ago. It is Rusty Wallace Chevrolet today. Rusty Wallace re-did everything and spent a ton of money. Their lot is full of new Chevys. The Tacoma is at Fox Toyota on I75 North at the 122 exit in Clinton.

I have a 19 TRD OR and I've replaced original 16" with 17" and larger tires, no warning or any problems. I am not sure what he is smoking but the front radar does not take any measurements of the truck. The front camera and radar are calibrated to see ahead and calculate the distance between your truck and whatever in front of it. I mean if you go monster lift/tires then yes, I can see how the calibrations may go out of wack but going slightly larger won't effect anything.

You have a Off Road, mine is a Sport maybe they are different? I really don't know ,I'm just going by the Toyota shop managers comment. This shop is HUGE with many many techs working on new Toyotas, I guess he could be wrong. My manual does not show a dipstick.

No difference in tech. All the same equipment on all of them. No dipstick, the level is now checked by reading temperature via OBD

The part about the "forever fluid"

Also, a broken oil pump inside the transmission could cause it to overheat without losing fluid.

The transmission isn't sealed. There is a drain plug, fill plug and overflow plug. You can and should replace fluid at least every 30-60k miles depending on your driving style. There is a procedure on how to do it.
