    Get the '11!

    The '12 is incredibly FUGLY

And I encourage people to boycott the 12 for not making it in SWB

Are you suggesting a brand new Tacoma can be purchased for $5 to $6k below invoice?

Has anyone out there purchased a brand new Tacoma $5 to $6k below invoice. By the replies I am seeing...that is highly doubtful.

The demand for these vehicles drive the price. I have yet to see any incentives (rebates or reduced Toyota financing rates) being offered on the Taco. I see it for every other model Toyota...but not the Taco.

The purpose of my original post was to solicit input from those who have recently purchased an '11 to see what kind of price they paid and also, if anyone has inquired about the '12, what they are being told.

I paid a a bit over 30k, but this dealership also gave me the highest amount for my 09 out of all the ones I shopped. The amount owed came out to less with them than anywhere else, after lots of haggling.

It is very unlikely one could knock 5k off the invoice, but the dealer is making about that much on any car. My mom's venza was 37k+ on invoice, but they got it for just over 33k and dealer cost was high32k (My dad knows the GM at Frank Toyota).

Does the 2011 come with that steering wheel? That alone has me sold. I can't stand the camry/sienna steering wheels in these trucks. Get the 2012 dude.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    .

I have a 2011 and the 2012 is OK because it is not a new generation design. Go for the 2011 as it is only a minor reskin, light interior mod & etc.

With that said ... I will NEVER buy a first year model of a new generation again ... been burned by Toyota (Tundras & Tacomas) and Nissan (Titan & Frontier) on first year models of a new generation model. Every single one had many more issues than normal, because of the first model year.

When the Tacomas come out with a new generation in a year or 2 ... I will wait and get it in maybe the 3rd of production.

Agreed. 1st generation vehicles (from every make) always have the most problems.

op, i am in the same boat as you... been loitering the '12 mega-thread hoping for some news about when i can see the thing. i am leaning toward the new model because of the techy upgrades. the black carpet will be interesting and i'll probably go for sans entune but i want to see it first.

the dealer talking about $500 over invoice may be correct but there's no way to know for sure until Toyota announces pricing. since they should be making an announcement any day now, why not just wait? i would think you should be able to reproduce a few hundred below invoice on an '11 for the next few months. if '12 is a hit it will drive the price on '11 down more making your '11 deal sweeter.

2012 looks like shit. It's the least truck-looking front end I've ever seen. It looks like a damn RAV4 with a bed. The original 2gen design had a blunt, blocky, solid look. This is too sleek.

That said, the new interior is much better. So now the question becomes how much work is it to graft that new steering wheel and dash pieces into an 11-?

I was thinking the same thing for the steering wheel and the piece with the 12v outlets.

    I own a 2011 & had a 2005. After seeing the picture of the 12 that OZ posted. I'm glad I bought the 2011.

Or he could get the 2011 for $1500 below invoice after the 12's hit the lot.
