The front end of the 2012 Toyota Tacoma has been redesigned, with a new grille, foglamps, headlights, and bumpers. Two tow hooks are now standard on all models, and there are two new colors -- Spruce Mica and Nautical Blue Metallic. The TRD Sport package is now offered with side mirrors that have integrated turn signal lamps, plus optional 18-inch chrome five-spoke wheels.

Big changes happen on the inside, too: The updated interior includes a redesigned instrument panel with a new gauge cluster; redesigned center stack with updated heat/vent/air-conditioning controls; and new steering wheel on some models. New options include heavy-duty all-weather flooring on Access Cab and Double Cab models, waterproof fabric on some trucks, new standard and optional stereos, and navigation and Entune infotainment system offered with the Double Cab V-6. Toyota hasn't announced any powertrain changes, but we'd anticipate something like that may soon follow this styling update.

13 years behind is about business as usual for the General...Toyota is fast catching up though. Their engine designs and interiors are getting damn long in the tooth, even on their new redesigns.

What I like about the "2012 refresher" is that it is exactly that, a refresher. I think the new interior is awesome and I do like the new face lift. What's nice about all that is that the "new generation problems" should be limited as it isn't a true new generation; same proven reliability, but a new look (kinda). Win-win for me!!

ya know, lookin at that brochure, the X-Runner looks much better than the previous in my opinion obviously, but as for the sport... ehh i wouldnt run to trade mine in

That depends entirely on what's underneath the skin.

The Hilux is unforgivably ugly but I can get past that because there's such a solid fucking truck under the sheet plastic. This 2012 model is the same truck the rest of us have with fuglier front end. Nothing there for me to love outside or in the guts.

Well, aside from the new interior, which is very nice.
