13 Tacoma xsp-x weird noise when shutting off engine.

It almost sounds like the engine starts to turn back the wrong direction. Haven't had a chance to get someone to cut it off and on while I'm under it. But it doesn't sound good. Plus with only 17,000 miles it'd making a lifter tapping sound too.

 

Did this just start or has it been doing it since day 1? Reason why it probably is the smog pump shutting down. Mine has done it since day 1 and of course the Taco Tick is normal.

 

So if it's the smog pump. Could I just remove it ?

 

As nice as that would be, probably not.

 

It's kinda embarrassing when you shut off your almost new vehicle and it makes a noise like that. I care less about emissions or smog. And don't have to do testing where I live.
