I have no problem with you. I can appreciate the effort you spent locating a youtube video that is supposed to be instructional. I do have a problem with people like Eric the car guy. He thinks he's giving a gift to the world by teaching people how to fix their car. A driveshaft that you can push the u joint cup into with your fingers is junk and he did it with his die grinder. After he pushed the cup in with his fingers, he acted like it was no big deal. There's other hokey stuff, but that's the worst.

So let's turn things around on TW and find a GOOD video that will provide the OP and others with good solid info. This site is one of the worst for negativity and childish behavior that often overshadows the positive information hidden within. Let's try to change that and find a good vid without the flaws of the one I posted.

I can't believe that Pep Boys hourly labor rate is $100.00.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
Buy your own parts. U-joints should be around $12 each. Center bearing might be roughly $300 or so from a Toyota dealer. Been a few years since I got one so I don't remember for sure but that sounds about right.
If you have access to another vehicle, remove the driveshaft yourself and take it to a shop you trust. (not a chain store)
Hand them your parts and ask them to swap it all out for you. Local shop did it for me a few years ago for an even $50 total (3 u-joints plus the center bearing).

edit: U-joints ~$12 from RockAuto or similar online. Closer to $20 ea for same thing in store like O'Reilly or Advance or something.

The labor rate is mostly the shop's overhead. i.e. you are not just paying the mechanic's wages, you are also paying for occupying a lift and keeping the lights on for an hour. Is commercial rent in Fort Walton Beach expensive? :notsure:
