13K/Other Prices for a 1st gen

Looking at a 1st gen for a work truck. I’ve found one.

2003 xtracab SR5
V6 Manual 4WD
119K miles
Clean car fax

Based off of photos it’s very nice. Interior is in very good shape. I still need to look at the truck in person.


Seller is asking for 13K.....

I’m looking to use the truck for about a year and a half and sell it (if I don’t fall in love).

I’ve never driven a manual transmission as a daily driver either.

What are your thoughts?

 

Location & Rust?

 

In the south. No rust based on the photos. Seller sending me photos of the frame.

Secretly worried someone will buy this out from under me.....

 

I paid $13.5K for a 2003 AC TRD 4x4 Manual with 88K miles. This was like two years ago.

i don't think it looks too bad, mine looks a little more weathered at ~6yrs older and nearly same miles, but i have only been that deep underneath recently once when the Toyota mechanic allowed me to come back and check a small leak he noticed in the transfer/transmission gasket through the floorboard, had to see what my frame was looking like raised in the air

I am trying to find the right shop locally to clean and recoat/proof mine thourougly but am having much much difficulty, so far an estimate is nearly $1k

that one could probably use the same cleaning, and the good hammer test if you are able to do that?

 

Looks like standard weathering to me. Nothing to be concerned about IMO

 

13k though...

 

how about a rear axle pic?

 

if they can prove the diligent maintenance for 16yrs and kept interior clean that engine is just getting broken in i think


have you priced similar ones in the area if there are any?

 

What would you offer based on mileage and the photos I just sent.

I asked if 8k would work and the seller said no way.

 

did he/she give a reason no way why?

 

Nothing similar in my area.

Then walk away. 8k is about right for a v6.

 

I wouldn’t find one nicer.
