Looks like any first gen tacoma in my area with over 200k miles, no matter the mileage after that is minimum 8k.

I wish I could get the one I’m looking at down to 11k. Although it does have 100k miles and the interior is in pretty damn good shape. From the photos the frame looks good too. Mechanically we will see on Saturday. I’m going to give it a good test drive. I’ll check the frame with a hammer on Saturday. We will see how it drives.

    That’s what I’m thinking. Won’t budge off 12.

Yeap - he did mention it was a lot freeway miles but that then again that could just be a selling point

Right, so when gauging a "good" deal when you can get 300k out of $8k vehicle that seems like a great deal to me.

Well over 200k and it goes to 300k you’d be paying 8k for 100k.

did you pay more or less (on average) for 100k miles on your '17? or have you run the numbers
do we need to start a 'go-fund-me' for $1000 for this 1st gen you're looking at o_O
just being a wiseguy here :D

    frenchee, are you from CA?
any chance you ever see for sale a 'vintage' first gen (95.5, 96, 97) in 4wd MT 3.4
I am very curious what the prices are OR if anyone is selling or has sold, ...just looking for something replaceable that is near-like to mine is all ... formulating an idea of the national market

The example I said was 500k so

    500k - 200k = 300k

But this is the type of monkey shit that belongs in a 3rd gen forum maybe u should look for input there instead

Even with 200k+ miles these 1st gens are super expensive.

I think it’s a combination of dealers but supply as well. As time goes on a 2003 with 100k miles gets less and less likely to find for example. I think this drives the price for low mileage 1st gens through the roof.
Then you get to a point of it doesn’t matter the mileage. If it’s in decent shape 8k

there must be a dwindling supply of used 4x4 3.4 in MT to explain a near same price with so many more miles than yours :notsure:
that facebook ad says there was $10k invested ... in what? a fancy stereo and amp?

low mileage can be a plus BUT i would also think it could possibly be a minus in some cases
for instance, very heavy city driving, stop and go, short trips to the (liquor) store frequently, etc = heavy wear & tear
longer highway trips, cruise on 65~75mph, from gas station to gas station with an occasional rest break = very little wear & tear overall to clutch, brakes, etc.

it is diffucult to get an accurate picture for a used truck on how exactly it has been used (especially if it has had multiple owners!)

i am curious if there is a sophisticated mathematical engineering formula (chart) for the Toyota engines to determine equivalency wear & tear rates vs longevity of the engine, transmission...
those folks with 200k,300k,400k +++ miles, how have you driven your truck
