Same here for me. I picked my truck because of it's overall clean condition and I like the color. I've owned a crap-ton of different cars and trucks over the years and never had or heard of one with peeling paint. I knew about the frame problems and the clear-coat old-age failure problems, but paint-peeling as a possible issue was never on my radar. Four of my vehicles in the past were white and I'm thinking at least two of them were "pre clear-coat" era. No issues with any of them. Toyota should do the right thing on this issue.... like they did on every other of their cars with this problem.

Does the Tundra have this problem?

my old 1990 Toyota truck has "better" white paint then my 2009. i should reach out to my painting friend and ask if he would be willing to shoot at least my windows and a spot on my hood that is starting up.

When I took my Tacoma to the dealer the auto body manager put paint tape on the pealing spots to take pictures and document the problem areas. When he pealed it off more paint came off. So if you do wrap yours and decide to take it off more paint will likely peel off.

Toyota's Customer Support Progran has covered the repaint of a number of model years under an extended warranty for model years ranging from 2008-2019 for Avalon, Camry, Corolla, Rav4, 4Runner, Sequoia, Scion that were exeriencing paint peeling for Super White & Blizzard Pearl colors but not the Tacoma. Don't give up!

ever seen the video of a guy with some GM truck, he paints with some spray paint, and then removed his masking tape and rips off even more paint, While his friends laugh at him.

Sailing the same seas here boys. Seems from all the posts some are sinking while others are staying afloat. I had no idea on the paint issue either and purchased a used 2014 Super White which for me I thought a God send because in my desert environment it stays so much cooler than any other color. Now I'm wondering if I purchased the Wreck of the Hesperus. Otherwise love the truck. :tumbleweed:

Please make sure you contact Toyota and ask for your Taco to be added to the customer service campaign.

This is the one I called: 800-331-4331.

Hopefully they’re all connected to the same set of customer service reps and ticket database.

EDIT: Today I talked with Toyota Corporate, they say since my vehicle is out warranty, there's nothing they can do at the moment. If things change and a recall occurs, they have my info, they say, and will contact me. So now I am bringing my vehicle to the body shop for repairs. The estimate is $1,000 for painting around both windows.

Original post continues . . . My 2015 Tacoma, white, was in immaculate condition here in California, at 94,000 miles, then, overnight, in February, the paint around the windows began to peel as shown in photos. I was, like, WHAT??? I took it to my local dealer and they acted like they'd never seen this problem before, although admitting it happens to Camrys and the Prius. They took photos and made a report to Corporate. That was 3 weeks ago, and I haven't heard from them since. Luckily, I found this thread and found I'm not the only victim.

The problem, currently, is just around the windows on the passenger side. I got a quote from a body shop for $1,000. I'm bummed by this experience. I'm the original owner, and I've babied this truck with 23 oil changes so far. The service on all the fluids is up to date. Just put new front rotors on. It's gone from gorgeous to ghetto. I'm not proud of it anymore.

Hate to see it, welcome to the club. Please open a case with corporate. With this volume of cases showing up on TW daily, the data points are hopefully adding up in the database.

Tried what was listed as Corporate Support (800-270-9371) in the forums here but as soon as I connected I was asked by a recording if I was under or over a certain age bracket. Maybe my feeble mind connected to my feeble fingers and wrote the number down wrong. Didn't say a word and the line eventually hung up.

Toyota Customer Engagement went through and ended up speaking to Jen Psaki. Awaiting a case number by email and a return call from someone above her in the WH.

The phone number quoted in the email is the one I called. I recommend you call and ensure a case number has been assigned to your complaint, and that it’s specific to the fact that you have a Tacoma with Super White paint that is peeling in the same manner as vehicles already covered under the ZKG program. Ask that Tacomas please be added to the ZKG program.

Get a dealer estimate, take photos, and if you choose to have parts of the vehicle repainted, keep receipts to submit to Toyota once the ZKG is updated to include Tacomas.

Got my vehicle listed/included under the ZKG program as you have suggested. The individual seemed optimistic that at some point it would happen and be covered. Yep and I know,"said the spider to the fly" but as far as "being sold down the river" (can that be even said now!) at least it was a pleasant cruise down the imaginary Rhine. For me personally, I would rather wait, to have any repairs done. The spots where the paint is lifting are in no danger of rusting, as far as I can tell, with the primer sealed well onto the metal beneath it. I'd rather wait in case more areas begin to peel and have it repaired once. In the meantime I will go back to sleep under my tree till I receive any notification. Hopefully not in a 100 years.

Has there been any updates on the superwhite paint issue? My 2013 is starting to flake in areas.
