166,649 – That is the mileage the 2001 Toyota Tacoma had when it I signed the Certificate of Title and passed it along to its new owner. There are a lot of numbers associated with that truck, first and foremost is that it is the vehicle I have owned the longest so far in this lifetime. It is also the truck which I started my current career pursuit (i.e., job) with (less than 30 days between purchase and start date if I recall correctly).

But as of this evening, she is gone. Not too far as it is in the extended family on my wife's side for the time being. But gone. The last tank of gas gave me exactly 18.0 MPG. Not too bad after almost 10 years and 166,000+ miles, three accidents, 2 dogs, 1 kart, 33 oil changes, a couple of apartment/house moves, one off-roading weekend, and literally hundreds of early morning LAX and Burbank airport rides.

    She will be missed.

Sounds like she had a good run. Since its at its half life, the new owner should get about the same.

True on the Gen2 - lovin' the extra drivers room up front; not sure about the styling vs. Gen1 or the center radio stack buttons (sunglasses with polarization seem to wash out everything). Thought hard about keepin' the old girl but decided to let her go. *sigh*

I've had along the 10 year path 2nd and 3rd cars as well; 2003 Acura TL-S, 2004 Porsche GT3; 2005 BMW M3; 2010 Lexus RX350, an old 80's Blazer, and a ton of rentals. Except for the Porsche, nothing gave me the same happiness as the 2001! :)
