I just got a black Tacoma and the first big project I'm investing in is wheels/tires/suspension.

I like the MB V-Drives ala Matic but I'm trying to decide between 16s and 17s. The car is slow enough as it is but I'm wondering if 16s would look too small under a 3" lift all around. Opinions? Pics might be helpful, I just don't want to have buyers remorse on such a big purchase.

The tires I have my eyes on are the BFG All-Terrain 265/70/16s. Thoughts on these?

Not really sure but here's mine when I had some BFG 265/70/16s on stock 16" rims w/ a 3" lift.

Did you upgrade to bigger tires? Those look a bit small IMO, could just be the angle though. Maybe 285/75/16 would fill it up better. How did you like the BFG A/Ts?

I upgraded to 33" BFG KM2s. I got my A/Ts used but I didn't really like them at all. Some people swear by them though.

Here's a pic from the side. They're not the BFG A/Ts but the same size. 285's would definitely look better with the 3" lift, IMO.

Personally, I think 17's look too big on 1st Gen tacoma's. 16's or 15's are perfect.

Exactly, I have always thought the samething. It's just something about the 17's, they are just too much rim for a first gen. They go great on the 2nd gen's, but on a first gen, it's another story.

Stick with either a 15" or 16" rim.

Thanks guys! I'll stick with the 16s and go for bigger 285/75 tires
