I found a 1977 toyota pickup for sale. The only things I know of it is that it runs, its an SR5 long bed. I haven't seen pics but she says its in "alright" shape. She's asking $1500 for it. Ill post pics once I get them, and more info when I receive it. I was just wondering what you guys think I should offer. I just thought it would be cool to have a classic toyota.

She said her ex-husband bought it from the original owner, then he gave it to his son.

There are a few for sale in KS. I know because I was searching NE and surrounding areas recently. An 89-95 will cost more (think 3500 to 6500) but probably have better chances of finding one in decent shape.

Whether or not that price is fair depends entirely on how much rust is on it, what kind of mileage it has, and what kind of upkeep has been done to it.

ask her about rust and if the engine has been rebuilt

That was my very first vehicle. 1977 Hilux shorted... I miss that old truck.

The option u have with that Hilux is that there are many companies and I bet even a local one or two, that sell low mileage engines for Japanese cars and trucks. Due to hi pollution in Japan, they discard engine after 35-40 k miles I believe. The are easy to remove and instal as well.

she said the mileage says its pretty low, so it I'm guessing it has turned over a time or two? she's asking 1500 and says she's not set at that price, how much would you guys offer her?

sheesh do you trust that thing to get back 2 and half hours?

Price is totally up to you, with that drive I'd only do 600.

I've been searching, but any clue on anyone making these 4wd? I could get my hands on one fairly cheap and it would be a fun project.
